Used 3 of these for my yard; no more water collecting during heavy rains! Sharing some installation ideas rcvd from others...
Installed 3 of these for my back yard. Used one for each of 3 downspout gutters, along with underground NDS French Drain tubing as well. Have had several rains now and we no longer see any waters building up in large sections of the yard any more. Did a lot of study beforehand and looked at a multitude of other brands, as well as other methods. This was the solution I chose and it's been great for us. I also used the NDS Surface Inlet Drain on each. It is true that the drain could be sealed to the top of this dry well but, the general rule is not to, to allow for ground shifting over the years (such as earthquakes, etc.). I didn't seal mine. I did read a lot of items on others reviews all across the Internet so I hope the following notes help others. I read a lot had to cut out the little drain holes and couldn't pound them out like the instructions mentioned. I actually read the instructions and it mentioned to place each of the curved well walls onto a hard supporting surface such as cinder blocks. I did this and they all popped out easily, except one (our of 3 wells, 9 wall sections total). I tried it without the blocks support and sure enough, it didn't work so, reading the instructions helped! The larger holes, for joining piping, are mentioned to perform some cutting prior to "popping" them out. A few reviewers across the Net also mentioned that the wall sections sometimes fell apart when handling them or installing them. So, one of the tips a couple of people mentioned (which I followed and did) was to use a water proofing sealant when joining the sections together. It worked absolutely perfectly. I constructed each well prior to digging each hole so it would have time to set for a couple of hours. Some reviewers had assumed it would come with a bottom but, being this is a dry well, the open bottom is intended for maximum drainage at the bottom. There are some scenarios where a bottom might be desired, e.g., if you're connect several of these together and you want to force it to drain into other dry wells or to drain out only through tubing. I've seen where a bottom can be purchased for those scenarios. I had to read a lot about draining on how it's done because we have no place to expel excess water. Thus, the dry well with no bottom was our solution. Also, I did line the outside of each dry well with the type of fabric that is recommended for french drains and dry wells. That fabric, by the way, is not the typical landscape fabric, by the way. Won't go into those details but a lot of people across the Net have posted they just used regular landscape fabric. From what I've read (including by engineers, etc. on the topic), I don't recommend it for long term usage. I did also use the draining fabric to line each of the dry well holes. I hope this helps others.

Winner! Great product, and very viable option to a rock gallery drain.
Very cool device, and much better than the old days of digging a hole and filling it with gravel, to act as a we well. Those old rock gallery/gravel wet wells would be very inefficient (think about it; the rocks/gravel are taking up much of the volume instead of making that room available for water storage), and are/were a pain to clean out the silt and other stuff that eventually gets in to them. This items stores way more water than a similarly sized rock gallery. Benefits? You can use a smaller hole for the same water volume. And, because it's smaller, it can fit in to areas where a rock gallery would not. And, the item is way easier to access to clean out. Very well thought out and executed. My only beef is that it seems pricey for a plastic 'barrel'. But, it saves me in so many ways (no rock to purchase or place, smaller hole so less time digging, smaller hole means it can fit in to tighter places, etc.), it's worth it.

You can use a wooden clothespin (split open) to keep the panels in place.
This dry well seems sturdy, but the side panels kept falling out when I moved the assembled dry well around. This made working with the dry well difficult when I placed and removed it from the dirt hole to test the depth of the hole. Some reviewers have drilled holes in the side panels and passed zip ties through the drilled holes to keep the panels from separating. However, you can also use a standard size wooden clothespin to wedge the panels in place and keep them from separating. I did that and was able to move the drywell around without any of the panels falling out (see photos). I imagine you could use anything as a wedge, as long as it securely blocks that opening at the top of the panel joints (see photos). Some other installation tips based on my experience with this product are: PLACE GRAVEL A UNIFORM DISTANCE AROUND THE DRYWELL: When I placed the dry well in the hole and then added gravel, I had more gravel on some sides than the other (e.g., a 6-inch width in some places and a 3-inch width in others...long story). It was not a perfect circle of gravel around the drywell. The lopsided nature of the gravel-fill caused pressure on one side of the drywell, thus distorting the dry well's shape into a drunken oval-like shape and thus forcing the lid of the dry well to pop off due to the uneven pressure. I was able to force the lid back on, but I donโt think that is ideal. So, I recommend you fill the gravel a uniform width around the drywell so that pressure is equalized around all sides and the lid will stay on snug. NDSโ MODEL# 1241 ADAPTER CAN WORK AS A CONNECTOR: Traditionally, people seem to just push the corrugated pipe through one of the drywell hole openings and let it sit there unsupported. However, if you want a sturdier connection, I found that you can use NDSโ adapter (Model # 1241, see photo) and silicone-caulk it to the drywell and connect your corrugated pipe to the 1241 adapter, and then wrap the seam between the adapter and the corrugated pipe with PVC tile tape to seal the joint. Overall, the dry well works. Not too bad.

Water Problem Solved!
I'd been eyeing this stormwater system for years before I finally decided to pull the trigger and order one. It's not terribly complicated to install (get your shovel ready) and it will solve a drainage problem that has plagued my neighbor for many years. Definitely two thumbs up!

Takes away standing surface water
Dry well easy to assemble. Very strong and durable. Opening drain holes was most difficult part of assembly. We taped the dirt filter in place to get it into the hole. I also cut about 6 inches off of bottom because volume was larger than needed. Had it through our rainy season and it quickly takes away the previously standing water from my yard.

Easy to put together and seems durable.
This 50 gallon underground storm water drainage container was easy to snap together with no tools needed. A hole was dug and some plumbing was nessassary using user supplied PVC. It is the perfect size for my application. You can add more containers if needed. In my case I needed to buy a reducer to reduce the inlet from 4 inches to 2 inches. I'd recommend this if you need to get rid of some standing water.

It works, but could be so much easier to assemble
It works, but not perfectly. To install a side connection you're instructed to cut a hole in a side piece. The pieces I got showed cutting a circular hole - but the fitting requires you also cut three slots that the "ears" on the flange will fit thru and allow you to tighten. I didn't find any markings to make this possible so I wound up just glueing the flange on with silicon. That was bad design. In addition, the three sides connect together easily but don't stay connected. I had to cut some wood shims to fit into the slots along the edge and hold the "fingers" so they couldn't slip out again. You have to drill holes all around the sides to let water percolate out. If they had designed the mold differently the holes could be left open as part of manufacturing. That would have saved some material, saved me 15 minutes drilling holes and a lot of plastic chaff on the ground that had to be cleaned up.

Perfect
Everything I needed and expected. Better to cut out the drainage holes instead of hamming them out, second attempted hold cracked a bit so I knifed them out quite easily. I tuct taped the inside seams to prevent it coming apart while backfilling. Very pleased and I got my moneyโs worth.

Solidly built
This dry well arrives flat packed, and the assembly is easy. The plastic is sturdy, I have no concerns about it holding up over time. I would buy this again (but I hope to not need to).

Works well
This well works well. When assembling, it wants to come apart. Needs to be in position in order to lock everything in place. Have installed about ten of these for French drains.
