Playing Audio Books MP3 Files Made from CDs
Below is the review I posted six months ago after purchasing a black Kubik Evo from Arc US. I use it exclusively for listening to audio book MP3 Files I made from CDs, and after some learning as described below I am very happy with it. This review is posted under the Arc US product listing. I am now so reliant on the Kubik that I checked the Arc US listing to find it no longer available. This caused me some panic because I don't want to go through the research and learning process all over. There is nothing I would change with the Kubik except to enable a view of which number CD of the book I was listening to. As described below I found a way around this, but it requires some extra work. To my relief I found this white version of the Kubik Evo is still available from Arc US, and immediately ordered one. I will probably order after that just in case this is going away also. Arc US says only 17 left.Review from Six Months Ago that did not transfer over to this Arc US listing.MP3 players are no longer found in any variety on store shelves, probably because the I-Phone and Droid have decreased the demand for these limited use devices. Therefore I turned to Amazon for a replacement. Reading all the reviews the lowest cost units seemed to be badly flawed. The Kubik seemed worth a try. It was half the cost of the old Sansa Fuse but reading all the reviews I was not sure it could replace the Fuse. After two months working with the Kubik I can say with certainty it can replace the Sansa Fuse for listening to Audiobooks from CDs with some adjustment to the listening process...* As another reviewer pointed out you can't use the Micro Slot because the "Breakpoint Player" function does not work from the microchip, and without that you can never get back to your place when the player shuts down. 8GB can support several books so I have learned to live with that restriction.* After converting CDs to MP3 files I use Windows explorer to number each separate CD file so I can keep track of where I am at. This worked fine with the Sansa but with the Kubik the folder title does not show up on the screen. This is a significant problem because when you come to the end of CD MP3 file and have to manually proceed to the next - how do you know which is next if you don't recall which you were on. The solution involves some extra effort but its the only answer I came up with. After manually numbering each CD file using Windows Explorer, I open the first tract of each CD file and add the CD number to the back end of the track number. This does not upset the sequential sorting of the tracks but does give me a way to easily find which number CD I just listened to by viewing the first track - since the tracks do show up on the screen view.If anyone out there is using their MP3 player to listen to CD files and has found other players less complicated I would love to hear about it. Other than this complicated approach to ordering and identifying files I am quite pleased with the Kubik. Its smaller than the Sansa Fuse, fits just nicely in my shirt pocket, and has a long battery life. The volume control is great and the highest sound level seems a bit higher than the Sansa. The ear phone connection is tighter than the Sansa which encourages me that it will not fail like the Sansa. This was the problem with the Sansa and I had to throw away two that were still working perfectly, except for the ear phone connection failure.

Update: Sent it back.
I really want to give it a 5 star but the instruction booklet really, really needs some work. I have only had this a few days but I have tried to give it a good run.Pros:The battery seems excellent. I have paused the music and left the player sitting for a full 24 hours without seeing any change in the battery. This is good since you can pause your music and do things, come back, hit pause again and be right where you left off. It could not be easier! I love that!Small: it is nice and small, easy to stick in a pocket (or bra) and no one will see, less chance of it getting stolen.Good sound with good earbuds.Cons:Instruction manual sucks...big time...at least for me.Do not try to use Microsoft Media Player to make playlists!!! Oh. My. Gosh. I was in near tears trying to make it work. I had done this with my other MP3 players but this one...it would not transfer. Open up your music file on your computer, open your music file on your player. Make a file named what you want your playlist named, copy and paste music from pc to mp3.I did not like the earbuds that came with it, but I also have hearing problems. The earbuds might be fine for others.UPDATE! I sent it back. It got to where it would not stay on even when fully charged. If I shut it off, following the instructions, it would not come back on. I had to press the buttons repeatedly to get any response.

Good Price and good quality. Muy buen precio y muy buena calidad.
This MP3 is small and portable. The menus are easy to navigate and the battery life is really long, more over the the little player have a micro SD card slot as extra memory (the card is not include), but is really convenient. When the MP3 is connected to the computer songs are really easy to move to the player, just drag them and they are ready for play. Taking in consideration the price the quality is really good, so there is not need to waste money in an expense MP3 when this one have everything that I need good quality, good price and extra memory. I recommended this MP3 to any one. I am really happy with my purchase and really happy also with the performance of this product.

Kubik Evo 8GB
I first bought one of these for my partner who was fed up of putting talking books on her ipod via iTunes. Drag and drop vs a battle with the user unfriendly iTunes. She loved it. I carried on with iTunes... But not for long... I like to be able to manage my files myself and save time loading on books. The Kubik evo has a plastic casing, but with 8gb storage and a slot to double that with a removable card. It has some quirks which take getting used to the navigation, which I admit could be a little better, but on an 8gb mp3 player for less than £30 it's not hard to live with. The build quality is fine, it's small and light. The battery seems to charge quite fast and last a good while, at least 4 hours so far. You'll need to buy a separate charger if you don't want to plug it into a computer all the time, but that's fairly standard these days. At the time I bought the first I could only get the 8gb version in black and orange - so to my only real gripe about the one I got for myself... it's pink! To be honest I've not used the recorder, the video player or the book reading functions - that's not what I needed... So I can't comment about them, but they are available if you want. I'd recommend this useful little player to anyone who wants an mp3 player that is simple to add music to and likes reasonable sound quality (the headphones supplied are not good, replace them and all is well!)

Kubik Evo 8GB MP3 Player with Radio
The player is small and light, fairly plastic in construction The sequence of button presses to move through the menus can be counter-intuitive and annoying to master but, once done, it's fairly easy. Music and radio quality is good for but not comparable to to top of the range players. Would buy it again.

I was disappointed with the quality
Although my 8 year old loves this, I was disappointed with the quality. It feels cheap and the menus are not user friendly. Sound is okay though.

Don't waste your money
Extremely poor quality, cheap feel, sent back. As the saying goes, but cheap buy twice, as was definitely the result for me sadly.
