Lacy Wire Jewelry

I've been waiting, with bated breath, for this book to arrive in the mail. When it finally did, I tore open the package and visually devoured all of the terrific jewelry projects off in a corner, to myself. I actually locked my door so I could have ten undisturbed minutes just gazing through this book.The book is an embarrassment of riches: it's hard to decide which gorgeous piece to make first.I think the instructions, as I've looked over them, so far, are clear. In some cases, they are quite detailed, but you just have to go step by step. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither is a piece of fine jewelry.With every project, the author lists which basic wire techniques are needed to complete the item. There is a manual on the "basics" at the back of the book. So, you can master the techniques before attempting a piece and always have the pages numbers right in the project instructions to refer to if you need to brush up.What I think I like best about this book is that the pieces don't need a gazillion components. Some material lists are so extensive, you're almost better off, financially, just buying something similar on Etsy. You want your homemade jewelry to look nice, but you don't want it to break the bank. MacDuffee has very spare item lists, for the most part, but the results are beautiful, not "minimalist" looking at all. Best of all, you could make each piece a dozen different ways by varying the wire color, gemstones, beads, etc. There are many craft books, especially jewelry books, where there's not much room for personal creativity in the pieces, but there is here!I have the components for one pair of earrings already. I can't wait for the weekend to arrive so I can start working on them!

It wasn't exactly THE book I was looking for but the projects are beautiful and instructions are great. Teaches you how to bezel odd shells, or whatever. How to make all kinds of lovely lacy jewelry. I will definitely use it when I finally get the taxes done and time to get back to beading! I highly recommend this book, even though I was looking for one that worked to create more floral glass bead necklaces, etc. I might be able to still do that using the techniques taught in this book. PS: I LOVE Amazon.com! we have no bookstores here anymore since Borders left town. I use Amazon.com for almost everything I buy...I live on the Big Island of Hawaii and the selection is so paltry and expensive. I thank you guys there for always doing such a great job! Hats off to Amazon!!!

One of the most unique jewelry making books I own. Melody's designs are beautiful, and her techniques are complex. If you are a beginning beader, you might want to hold off attempting these techniques, but have the book as example of what you want to achieve. For more advanced beaders, this book is a tremendous challenge that doesn't disappoint. Lots of images showing steps for each project, and a cool section in the back of the book with basic steps. This book is definitely not for the chicken hearted and is the beaders version of jumping out of a plane. I love the book and anything Melody MacDuffee writes, I'm getting a copy.

This book contains some very nice projects that I can't wait to start trying out. Not all appeal to me but enough to reccoment this book to anyone interested in expanding on their wire working skills. Most of the projects don't look difficult, but appear to have lovely original results. Pictures showing the steps are a bit small, but the written instructions seem sound. Great for someone with already some wireworking experience. I wouldn't recommend it to a beginner.

I received my book just recently and am not one bit disappointed. My reason for purchasing books like this is to find inspiration for my own collection. This book is just what I imagined it would be. The techniques she uses are beautiful and fit right into my own style. Thank you, Melody for sharing your beautiful technique..

The most important, most basic requirement for an excellent instructional book in which you want to learn how to do something are clear, easy-to-follow INSTRUCTIONS and, hopefully, photographs of each step in the process. This book fails miserably. Neither the photos nor the written directions are very helpful.For example, the multigemstone earrings on page 16 & 17: the first photo shows the wire frame, the second photo shows the completed outer row of wire arches with the beads!!! The instructions say: "Make a base outer row of 21 unbeaded arches..." There are no pictures showing how to make arches or how the beads got on there.I don't think I can adequately explain how frustrating it is to try to follow instructions to attempt a project in this book. Not only do I not recommend it, I WARN against purchasing it. I wish I didn't have to give it a star at all. How disappointing.

Very nice book with some great ideas. Now all I need is time to work on the projects!

Another book for my daughter's birthday from her wishlist.She has been making jewelry for several years and wantedto get into more detailed work. This book, which we originallychecked out from our local library is just what she needed.We would highly recommend this book for those who wantto get more creative in designing jewelry.

Another beading book I've added to my ever growing collection. I love the images, and the instructions are clear. Very inspirational.

Habe ich mich bisher gefragt, wie man ein Objekt in ein Netz aus Draht bringt, so wurde das Geheimnis mit diesem Buch für mich gelüftet.Es sind sehr schöne Projekte in diesem Buch, obwohl mir manche etwas zu üppig sind, aber das ist eben Geschmackssache.Die bebilderten Schritt für Schritt Anleitungen sind aber meines Erachtens oft nicht genau zu den einzelnen Bildern zuzuordnen. Man muss schon genau schauen, wo jetzt zu welchem Bild die jeweilige Beschreibung steht. Im hinteren Teil des Buches sind nochmal alle speziellen Techniken einzeln erklärt und bei den Projekten steht dann die Technik samt Seitenzahl, wo die jetzt zu finden ist. Das finde ich etwas unpraktisch. Das hätte man direkt mit in die Projektanleitung hineinbringen können, da die Techniken so kompliziert nun auch wieder nicht sind, dass man so viel Text dazu braucht.Mein Fazit: Obwohl ich schon einige Bücher zum Thema Wire Jewelry besitze, habe ich hier mein Wissen erweitern können. Vor allem was filigrane Drahtarbeiten betrifft. Aber wer der englischen Sprache nicht gut mächtig ist, der wird hier so seine Schwierigkeiten haben.

un joli livre qui propose de belles créations en "wire" (avec du fil métallique) .. L'anglais ne pose aucun problème car il y a plein de photos explicatives et des pas a pas, seul tout petit bémol j'aurais aimé que les photos soient un peu plus grandes!! les modèles proposés sont: bagues, colliers, bracelets, broches etc... ce qui m'a plu c'est l'originalité, je possède plusieurs livres sur le wire mais là c'est différent comme vous pouvez le voir sur la couverture on trouve plutot " des arabesques, filigranes" c'est tout a fait different de ce que l'on fait habituellement (comme par exemple les spirales) on peut sertir des pierres ou cabochons avec ce genre de filigranes perlées ou non et l'effet et vraiment très joli, les creations proposées sont d'ailleurs très jolies!!un livre que j'aime beaucoup!!!

タイトル通り、台座も作ります。この人のすごいところは、なんと巻貝まで台座作っちゃってペンダントにしちゃうところ。巻貝ですよ、巻貝。耳あてると潮騒が聞こえるとか言っちゃうあれですよ。これが普段ペンダントとして使えるかどうかは別として、同様の方法を使えば何でもラッピングできそうって思わせるワイヤー使い。繊細なビーズ作業、編み物作業が好きな人（つまり私もですが）はとってもいい本。ビーズとワイヤー両方が活かされている作品が多い。ただ英語を読むのが苦手なので☆−１だけど作成の写真図が段階的に載っていてとても丁寧なところは〇この人の他の作品本も買おうか迷うところ。
