Littlefair's Wood Stain Water-Based - (Dark Red Mahogany) – Non-Toxic, Eco-Friendly & Quick Drying - Easy-to-Apply, Concentrated Formula for All Wood Types – 2.5 LTR

Easy to use. Beautiful colour. Stripped, stained and waxed Hall stand. Looks fantastic inspired me to do the same with pine picture frames. No nasty smell. Easy to clean brushes. Needed 2-3 coats of stain lovely rich colour and still see knots and grain of wood.

Initially I ordered a sample pot of the "Very Red Mahogany", the company were kind enough to send me an additional tester pot free of charge (without my request) of the "Dark Red Mahogany". I am very fortunate they did this because I much preferred this colour. I ordered the 2.5 Litre bottle of "Dark Red Mahogany" which covered a 3.5m x 9m room with ~500ml left to spare. I have never done any DIY before, yet, with the instructions sent with the bottle I was able to dye my Pine floorboards (after sanding) to a standard I am happy with. Judge for yourselves on the attached images. A few general steps/tips: - Sand the floor using 40-80-120 grit paper - Since the dye is water based it's best to spray the floor with water (after cleaning) which pops the grain - Hand sand the floor with 120-200 grit paper - Clean it with a vacuum and then rub it down with a lint free cloth - Use a sponge to apply the dye and a lint free cloth to immediately wipe off any excess Wood is very water thirsty and so it's easy to get a patchy finish on your first coat. Subsequent coats will be easier to apply, make the colour darker, and blend patchy areas. I sealed my floor with a Matte look polyurethane to hide most the defects. Sanded pine does not take a stain very well which is why I chose to use this dye.

Colours very accurate and pleasingly buildable. Just layer to the depth of shade you want. Whoever created the colours took very great care over the shades and formula. Clean up is easy. Almost no odour, and great value for money, as the product goes far. A 500ml bottle will last ages, and I have enjoyed experimenting with 2 shades combined, in order to achieve my desired colour. I bought some to do a large bamboo blind, and can tell I'm going to have a lot left. If you wanted you could leave the finish as it is, as it does feel slightly moisturisng to the surface, however, probably best to seal with a clear wax or varnish.

Many years ago I used to use spirit wood dyes. This water-based wood dye completely changed my view. it is easy to use, produces a first-class finish and the instructions are excellent. As with anything though, do a little online research as to how to use the stain and finish it. Sand the wood, raise the grain with a wet cloth, allow to dry and re-sand with fine 'wet and dry' paper (used dry!), then apply two even coats of stain, allowing to dry between each coat; once dry finish with your preferred product - in my case, several coats of dark French polish, very lightly rubbed down between each coat with fine (0000 grade) wet and dry paper (wiping away the dust produced) to achieve a superb sheen and a depth of colour that only a dark, 'garnet' french polish will achieve - and I cheated by using a brush to apply it!

Love this dye. Been trying for ages to find a match for my other furniture. Looks superb and does go even darker over night. It has brought some old furniture back to life. The bottle is a lot bigger than expected so will last for ages

Best x Staining product I’ve ever used

Dieses warme Braun was ich mir geholt habe ist echt schön anzusehen. Klare Kaufempfehlung. Ich habe die Farbe 3 Mal aufgetragen, um absolut ein dunkles braun zu erzeugen. Nach dem Anstrich schon ein Hingucker.

Ich bin von den Farben sehr begeistert. Habe 3 Farben zum testen bestellt um dann zu entscheiden welche ich letztendlich für die Fronten unserer neuen Küche nehmen möchte. Die Farben sind sehr ergiebig Farben: Links: Dark Walnut , Mitte: Dark Red Mahagoni, rechts: Golden Oak 1x Vergleich 1 Anstrich (oben) 2 Anstriche (unten) 1x Vergleich 2 Anstriche (oben) 3 Anstriche (unten) 1x zusätzlich mit Danish Oil behandelt (2 Anstriche oben, 3 Anstriche unten)

devo premettere la mia ignoranza nel fai da te e racconto l'episodio per altri ignoranti che si vogliano cimentare nella pittura di un mobile chiaro per renderlo scuro. Volevo un carrello da inserire in uno spazio di soli 33 cm. di larghezza fra la cucina e la credenza di stile antico ma dopo ricerche estenuanti solo 1 prodotto aveva questa misura ma potevo ordinarlo per riceverlo a casa sono nella colorazione betulla, cioè molto chiaro, così ho cercato qui e trovato questo prodotto per modificarne la tinta. La prima prova fatta su una mensola grezza è andata benissimo, il legno ha assorbito subito il colore e ne sono stata felice. Ma su questo carrello, trattato, non prendeva proprio, quindi ho fatta la fatica della scartavetratura pensando bastasse, invece è servita a ben poco: passare il colore rimaneva difficile perchè faceva tutte goccioline e segni da ripassare con gran fatica per via della struttura del carrello. Ad ogni modo un poco ha preso e l'effetto adesso è anticato, non scuro come la credenza ma mielato e non più giallino, che stava male. In conclusione, se avete legno grezzo va benissimo, se invece è trattato no, non adatto.

Habe ich mehr erwartet. Aber die Farbe so dünn, muß man 5 mal streichen. Leider es ist nicht so günstig.
