I recently purchased a monitor (without built in speaker and HDMI ports) and wanted to use my chromecast with it. The Tendak HDMI Female to VGA Female Converter Adapter Dongle with 3.5mm Audio fulfilled my requirement at a very reasonable cost. The product itself felt like good quality and the packaging was good. Just hooked up my chromecast to the HDMI female port, used a 3.5mm Aux cable to extract audio and then connected to my monitor using a vga cable. The video and audio quality are good. I tried playing 1080p videos and no issues. The conversion was smooth and the audio sync had no issues as well. Overall highly satisfied with the product.By the way, this product (Tendak HDMI Female to VGA Female Converter Adapter Dongle with 3.5mm Audio) serves only specific needs. If you know why you are buying this product, then you can't go wrong with the selection.Will add my set up picture later.

I used it to split video and audio from Chromecast, for video projector with sound output to an external speaker (or to an earphone for silent video play). Otherwise the Chromecast would be limited to use only with TVs, or an expensive AV system if you don't like the TV's crappy speakers. This dongle works great! And another good thing about it is that this adapter dongle DOES NOT require an external power supply!The hardware that I used:1. Google Nexus 6 smart phone2. a projector, VGA input3. an external speaker for audio out4. this dongleHere is how it worked:1. connect Chromecast to the dongle's HDMI side2. VGA connector to the video projector from the female VGA side of the dongle3. connect audio out to an external speaker.4. Use my Nexus 6 phone to cast screen through the Chromecast.Now I can play YouTube videos from my Nexus 6 and project the video to the wall with sound from the external speaker.

I purchased this product to connect a Chromecast to a computer monitor. It worked for a few days (even though I would constantly have to unplug and reconnect the Chromecast to get any picture). After only a few days, there is no connection made between the Chromecast and the monitor. I know it's not a Chromecast issue, as I tried it on my TV and it worked perfectly. I even tried a few different Chromecasts with the connector, and everything failed.Terrible product, do not buy.

I realized one day that using RCA composite cables (from a ROKU) in my older projector was limiting the resolution to 480p, so I researched dozens of HDMI to VGA convertors and chose this one.The first thing to notice is the build quality. You can see it is very good. Then I connected an HDMI cable from the ROKU to it, and then a VGA cable from it to the VGA port on the projector, and finally I connected a 3.5mm audio cable from it to the audio input of the projector.I showed my wife the RCA connection, which had looked great for a year, then showed her the HDMI/VGA connection and she was shocked. Instantly the picture quality was at XGA which is the maximum of my projector and looked almost HD.The audio connection works awesomely as well. Although the overall volume, or dB gain, is less then the direct RCA audio connection. This may be the projector itself or a reality of hdmi audio. It only means the maximum volume is not as loud as it was. It's not a negative. If I was going to use the same setup as above, where the volume is controlled by the projector, for an outdoor movie night an amp or louder speakers will be needed. I am, for the record using 2.1 computer speakers and they are only 5 watts.The picture quality is amazing. The colors and contrast have improved in addition to the overall resolution. I was going to buy an HD projector, but this awesome product upgraded my home cinema to the point where it would be hard to see the difference.Let me be clear. This simply allows an HDMI connection to the VGA port, so your maximum resolution will depend on your individual projector. Also since sound and video are carried through HDMI this has a separate audio output for it.This will not allow devices to recognize your projector as an HDMI device however. HDMI has coding language that transfers between devices and since this is HDMI to VGA it will consider your device a Standard definition device. This means an XBOX will not play in 1080p format (which beyond graphics affects certain features; such as no multiplayer on Minecraft). This is not a Con of this item, it's just how HDMI works.Tendak makes a version of this that has the HDMI attached, it's a smaller footprint but wouldn't have worked with the ROKU because of limited plastic space surround the HDMI port. So I chose this design for the fit I needed. It's something to think about.I highly recommend this. I would say that anyone who has a VGA input capable device get one of these right now. You will be very happy with your results.

Yes, it works and is very easy. Unfortunately, my screen blacks out for a split second every minute or two. This will never pass the wife test on movie night. Using it with a 2nd generation Fire TV Stick.Update: It worked for about four hours. My Fire TV Sick overheated a few times, and now the adapter doesn't work with any HDMI devices anymore. Returning it and starting over with my research.Update 6/20/17: Tendak immediately replaced my device the day after it failed and the replacement is working fine with my Chromecast. I have not tested it with the FireTV Stick yet. We will see if the screen blanking and overheating returns when I have a chance to test it. Tendak's customer service has been impressive and they certainly stand behind their product. I have never seen a vendor so interested in making things right with a dissatisfied customer.
