Best salwater pump for the price
Puts out a good amount of chlorine. Grateful for the visibility when backwashing. Live all the functions. Easy to put together. Great for my 15,000gal pool

Best pump, especially for price paid.
This is our third year (installed summer 2018) having an intex 15’x4’ above ground pool. We used chlorine and the pump that came with the pool the first year. Changing the filters and using chlorine was not blowing my skirt up. The filters had to be replaced every two weeks minimum, and the chemicals were somewhat challenging to keep balanced. We decided last year to upgrade to a salt water system. I didn’t look at a sand filter due to cost. We bought an upgrade summer 2019 salt water pump, which used the same disposable filters. The pump was adequate, but we still had to skim the water with a net to get out the layer of bugs and bio matter from the trees for about 10-15 minutes before swimming each and every day. To be fair, there are three trees that contribute to the mess. We got the pool ready this year (2020), but the pump would not operate. We knew we had to buy a new one.I do quite a bit of research on most products I purchase, especially a bigger purchase such as this pump. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of saltwater pumps on the market whether its Amazon, Academy, or our local pool suppliers (Nashville). I saw that this pump had adequate reviews but not stellar. I also know that items like this usually receive a few poor reviews because there are too many user variables for product performance consistency.I can say for us, this pump performance exceeds our expectations. My husband installed it April 27, 2020, and said it was somewhat difficult. I can attest to the amount of time it took-approx 1 1/2-2 hours. We had multiple sized connectors due to previously purchasing a second pump, so that was not an issue for us. The power of this pump is noticeably stronger than the previous two pumps we had. See photos. Kind of like a hot tub if you’re up close. This has not been an issue even for our 10m old in her float. The best aspects of this pump are that the water stays much cleaner, no need to skim before each and every swim, no disposable filters, backwashing the sand is a breeze. You can actually see the funk flush out of the sand! Stop backwash when water runs clear. Bam, you’re done. Always less than a minute.I attribute the improved performance because of the type and strength of filtration system. The water stays clear. We do have to shock and use clarifier, but the frequency is much less and will be necessary with any system. I never have to worry about cleaning the surface before putting my baby in the water. HUGE, time saver. That’s pretty impressive considering the trees around the pool. We do run the pump 12hrs/day most days, especially when we swim.I hope this helps anyone considering either switching to a saltwater system or upgrading to sand. This is the way to go. It’s more costly initially, and the sand is an additional cost, but we feel this will save us money in the long run. I believe the sand lasts 5-7 years.

Very quiet machine runs great
I ordered the wrong size for my little pool, but I’m not sending it back. I love this thing nice and quiet and I used the balls instead of sand.

Saltwater already failed
Had this pump for a couple of years just turned it over to saltwater in March 2025 now by May 2025 the saltwater has already failed keeps saying low salt regardless if I put way to much. The to much salt light doesn't come on and the low salt wont go away I've washed soaked the probs nothing is fixing it. So may people are correct this thing doesn't last and the probs are next to the same price of replacing the saltwater part. Ridiculous china parts always fail and then they make it so expensive to replace anything to make it work again. Throw away society but I do like to be able to fix and repair when I can especially when they cost hundreds of dollars. I will never go back to saltwater I will just buy chlorine. Read the reviews it happens far to often that they only last a short amount of time insanely upsetting that nothing is built to last. Oh and the lcd screen has failed as well the numbers are no longer readable had one before the Texas freeze for years and never had a problem until it froze inside and bought the one I have now and this one shouldn't have failed being outside like it's supposed to be in the elements. Plus I paid a premium for this one $500+ because COVID had just happened and everyone jacked up their prices to help out it didn't help me but it helped someone make a killing.

Totally Worth it!
This system is amazing. Totally worth every penny we paid for it (about$300).We have a 16 ft best way steel pro max. We've had it just over 3 years, and every summer the same thing happened.... The kids would swim in it once, then it would start turning green so I would shock it and then it would turn bright orange/brown from the iron in our super hard water, the tiny pump and filter system that came with it just couldn't keep up. We were changing the paper filters every day and still couldn't get it to clear up. We would just end up draining it and starting over multiple times every summer. This Intex pump has larger hoses than our pool takes but we just used some reducer adapters we already had laying around. I put in the salt, and started it up. I shocked it once with non-chlorinated shock (because that's what the pool guy said to use with salt system), water turned a slight orangish-brownish-greenish but we ran the pump overnight and it was clear the next way. We've had it for a week now, the kids have swam in it every day, multiple times a day, we've done nothing other than running the pump & chlorinator and it still crystal clear. We are amazed! I am totally relieved that I don't have to waste any more money on paper filters and constantly adding chemicals. This system is super easy to use and requires very little maintenance. According to pool guy you do still need some ph/alkalinity decreaser, stabilizer, and non chlorine shock. But we're still going to save a ton of money because the whole system-- chlorinator & pump, salt, sand, and chemicals-- was less than $500. We were going through $200/mo in cheap paper filters alone with our previous system. Considering the salt system is $200 by itself, definitely splurge and get this salt/sand combo for only $100 more! Wish we bought this 3 years ago!Update: we've been using the pool daily for over a month now and it's still crystal clear! We've even had a few rainstorms, which in the past would have turned the pool green. I included a picture of the only chemicals Ive used (other than the pool salt added at opening)... A cap full of conditioner/stabilizer if cya is low, 2 capfulls of ironmyte when adding fresh water (because our water is very hard and iron heavy), a non chlorine shock every other week or if water is cloudy after heavy use, ph down if ph/alka test high. Other than that, I backwash the pump every other day whether it needs it or not. So easy! 🤯

Good customer service.
I had the last version of this pump it lasted me 7 years in a saltwater pool and worked great. I replaced it with this pump. The reason for the one star off is not for the pump or the intex customer service if I could take a half star I would have. I salt chlorinator had the threads messed up on the outlet you could not tighten the hose on it. Called the company no problems they were very helpful. The lady on the phone understood the problem . The reason for the star off is the time it took to get the part.. It was shipped on the 18th I received it on the 26th.

Best thing I’ve ever bought for a pool
I was tired of spend $1000s on chemicals for our pool so I went to saltwater and I could not have been happier with this product. Maintenance had been cut to almost none besides hooking a pool vacuum up and skimming the top. Program it correctly and you’ll have a clear pool. It was used on a 20ft 48in deep pool. It out lasted the pool. Do yourself a favor and spend the money. It’s salt so it will corrode metal. Beware of that fact and rinse with fresh water to make it last or plan to replace metal parts after a few seasons.

Highly recommend
First time owning a pool. We thought about it for years. A friend of mine who has had a pool for many years suggested the sand and salt water filter system, so I came on amazon and found this one. We are extremely happy with the filter system and the seller. The filter that came with the pool was a joke. It doesn't help that we live in the country and used well water that was high in iron. We are a week in and this filter is doing an amazing job. We noticed the filter wasn't as strong today (even than it was stronger than what came with the pool), so we used the backflow (just a turn of the dial) to clean it and watched the iron come out of the filter it was a deep orange and less than a minute later she was running clear again . After that the filtration was strong again.

This is not a complete kit
The product itself looks to be decent quality. I would have used it by now but Intex for some reason decided that they will provide everything you need except the inlet that you need to install on the pool side to use the system. Why in the world would Intex decide to leave out an essential part so you cant use the pool? So I ordered the part that is needed and I will have to wait until it arrives on Tuesday. Silly.
