PNES and me: all the things I needed to know.
This book is concise and insightful. It bellows to anyone suffering w PNES, “you are not alone! Here is hope and support. We can learn methods for coping and even thriving while living w PNES.”As a society we are moving in the right direction as we de-stigmatize mental health conditions but we have a long way to go. Brave books like these help to ensure that sufferers of mental health conditions are seen as what they are - genuine, talented, hardworking human beings whose illness should be treated with the same urgency and the same respect as any other health problem.

Ms. Montgomery is a STRONG WOMAN and a MASTERFUL STORYTELLER.
An unbelievable and touching story of how the author finally diagnosed and fought to come to terms with her situation. The title and cover reeled me in, and her story kept me turning pages. It fascinates me just how much fight humans have as they get thrown curveballs by life. Ms. Mongomery is a strong woman and a masterful storyteller.Tales of struggle are not for everyone - but this story is relateable. Even those of us that have never dealt with something as mentally and physically challenging as this, can take away many pithy, wise and witty pieces of advice and wisdom from this amazine woman's journey.

Remarkable book!
I found this book to be insightful, informative in so many ways, and humorous despite the seriousness of the subject. Mia Montgomery provides a view of her life, what she has learned throughout her challenges and important information to help others that need to have more help than may be available from the medical community. Having the professional background that she does makes her writing deep and very personal. This book is well-written and I recommend it highly. Whether you are a person who struggles with the condition or a support person, you will find this book to be a valuable resource.

An Inspiring Journey! Fantastic Read!
It takes me several weeks to read most books. I read this one in two days! Mia's recount of her battle with non-epileptic seizures is incredibly inspiring. It's scary to think that something like seizures can come out of nowhere and become a recurring part of your life. I personally don't suffer from these seizures, but it's amazing to see how someone can keep a positive attitude through such a battle. Thanks for sharing your story, Mia. It's going to inspire and help people all around the world!

Insightful, intelligent and informative
I found this book well written with an emotional rawness that grabs and holds the reader in Mia's day-to-day struggles. It's cleverly organized to make sure we follow the journey and the precipitating emotional triggers that may be the underlying cause of this unfathomable affliction.Mia gives an outstanding accounting that belies a first-time author. Also being from the midwest, I particularly enjoyed the creative descriptions of her hometown and growing up on the farm. My favorite: "Giant oak and walnut trees stand as sentinels across the land, bearing witness to the seasons as they change, and yet stay the same, as many things do in this Midwestern Missouri climate". This rings true in general but also a foreshadowing to where she seems to be in her journey to deal with her illness, doctors and even her loved ones as they accept what for now, they cannot change. While I've never encountered or experienced something like PNES personally (thank goodness), I definitely have a new appreciation and understanding for those who do and what they and their families go through to adapt to a new 'normal'. I can only imagine anyone with PNES will feel an emotional attachment and hopefully some relief after reading Mia's work and knowing they are not alone.

Amazing book shows the nitty and the gritty of real life dealing with PNES/NEAD.
This book is AMAZING! A must read for anyone that deals with PNES/NEAD, or PTSD. It is so well written you can feel the emotion as you read it. This book gives great insite to a medical issue that many medical professionals don't care to understand because it is "not their field or problem". Thank you Mia for writing this book I will be getting everyone I know to buy it!
