Has the best compilation of all their hits in my opinion .

This two-disc package for less than two large lattes is an incredible value. There is not a song on here that I do not already own on their standard-issued album but the convenience of just being able to pop a disc in and hear great song after great song is worth the small amount of money even if I only go to it once in a while. The first disc of 16 tracks is a greatest of greatest hits list of fantastic music. Every song is a ABB staple and hit. Disc two which also has 16 tracks starts with 7 more tracks of the same and then proceeds after the first break-up of the band with tracks recorded from 1979 through 2003. I can't imagine how any track on this collection could be criticized. 10-star rating for me.

Not all their work, but a must have. Wore the first one out, this is the second one. U like the bros? Buy it!!

Good music that I missed out on when I was younger. Much more bluesy and jazzy than I had expected. Definitely worth buying.

I cannot claim to be a "FAN"atic of the ABB, so I can't really comment on how representative this is of the band's product. I CAN say that the whole album is excellent music, with the cuts arranged in a sequence that gives a smooth transitional flow to the whole album. There is not a single weak tune in the lot, either. Excellent musicianship and vocals. Again, I am not an expert, but the audio is clean, crisp and full where I would expect it to be. All in all, an excellent album, great blues, well worth playing over and over. If I can't decide what I want to listen to at the moment, THIS one is my go-to default,If you are trying to decide, learn from experience. This is a personal lament for all those missed opportunities over the years. Back in the day, the ABB didn't get much of my attention, although some of the tunes caught my ear. Yes, I saw ABB and (later) Dickie Betts when they were playing local clubs, not concerts, but it has taken years to appreciate both the blues in general and the ABB in particular. I guess some wisdom does come with age. Don't take as long yourself.

The songs were put in order very well. From start to finish, they give you a very good perspective of "The Allman Brothers" time line. I find myself listening over and over. With the two discs, I can decide which brothers era I want to hear. Although I own every song on individual discs, I enjoy the ability to hear them all together on two CD's.

pretty good overall selection spanning the glory years of the ABB. No fillers here, every song a winner. happy with this purchase

I just finished going thru the first disc of this double disc set in the Car and I have to say that this is a wonderful way to review the Allman Brothers while you go for a long drive. The Allman Brothers are without a doubt the perfect driving music there is simply that wind in your hair sort of feel to their sound. It simply CANNOT GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS... Spigomars

１９６９年から２００３年までのオールマン・ブラザーズ・バンドの長い長い活動歴をレーベルの枠を超えて収録したベスト・アルバムです。　一体どういう層のファンがこのアルバムを買うのか考えてみるのも一考だと思いますが、ちなみに本作を買ってしまった筆者は公式アルバムを全部持っていますが、購入の理由はとてもシンプルなもので、デジタル音源としては本作でしか聴くことのできない「ジェシカ」のシングル・ヴァージョンをコレクションに加えたかったというものでした。　ベスト・アルバムというのは、アーティスト自身が選曲に関わることもありますが、そうではないことが多いと思います。このベスト盤のコンピレーションを担当したのは、有名なBill Levenson氏です。しかし、この人の選曲をもってしても、いろいろと異論があるところでしょう。正直言ってこれだけ長いキャリアを持つバンドの音楽を２枚のディスクに押し込むのは、無理があると思いますが、まぁ、とりあえずやってみたという感じの選曲になっています。　６９年のデビューから７０年代初めにかけての作品に重点が置かれるのは当然のことなので、ファースト・アルバムから「ブラザーズ・アンド・シスターズ」までのアルバムからは、どの曲をカットするか、という観点で選曲されています。このため、６９年から７３年までの作品でディスク１及びディスク２の約３分の１を使用してしまい、１９７５年以降の残りのキャリアをディスク２の残り３分の２、時間にして５０数分間に詰め込まねばならなくなってしまい、アルバムから選べるのは１〜２曲となってしまったようです。つまり後半は、どの曲を選ぶかというのがポイントとなっています。異論はこの辺りに集中するものと思われます。　最後に、音質について一言。オールマンズのキャプリコーン時代の各アルバムはリマスター化されていますが、音が痩せてしまった感じがします。しかし、本作のリマスターはその点が改善されていてパンチのある音になっています。

CDタイトルどおりallman brothsのoriginal recordingsより集められたanthology盤。全てのオリジナル盤、すなわちデビュー盤のThe Allman Brothers Bandから最新スタジオ録音版Hittin' the noteにいたる全てのオリジナルアルバムより選曲したオリジナルレコーディングがリリース順に並べてある。2枚組で、1枚目はEat A Peachまで、2枚目はBrothers and Sisters以降となっている。これまで未発表のボーナスものはなく、真に原盤に忠実なコンプリートなベスト盤。Live盤からはオールマンを語る上で欠かせないFillmore East Liveからのもののみが入っている。Aristaのものもちゃんとはいっている。ライナーノーツも丁寧に解説してある。これを聴くとオールマンの音楽レベルの高さ、奥の深さがよく分かる。オールマンの歴史を一気に体験するにはコンパクトでもってこいのもの。選曲のセンスは抜群で究極のベスト盤です。
