Lizards for Lunch: A Roadrunner's Tale

Our 23 month old science-minded boy plus both parents love the book. The illustrations are absolutely amazing and not at all scary. They show the roadrunner running and manage to depict its incredible speed and dust-making in the process. There are humorous touches here and there (baby roadrunners in desert-themed bibs and one holding a fork) that made the book refreshing for all of us. We live in Arizona and have a gazillion of desert-themed picture books and this one is right at the top (second favorite is the National Geographic's Creatures of the Desert World). The various animals look very child-friendly while being quite accurate anatomically (important for us; my son does not like overly sweet, cartoonish animals).Other amazing features are: good quality paper and print, bold colors, a story that informs our curious scientist about the eating and other habits of the roadrunner while being easy to understand for a three year old and entertaining as well.

This book was so much fun to read to my son when he was little that I buy it for friends and teachers to share the roadrunner tale with their kiddos.

I use this book as a recreational read aloud book in my classroom.There is a waiting line of students to do so! My students identify withthis text as there are roadrunners and lizards in our area -- lots of 'em!Wonderful and entertaining book!

As we travel through the United States I find fun informational books on Amazon for my granddaughter to enjoy at home.This is an excellent book.

The illustrations are wonderful, my three year old granddaughter wanted me to read it again and again. Then I told her to read it to me by looking at what she saw within the illustrations. She gave it a read it again grandma twice.
