SEIKO 5 (Seiko import) Automatic Watch SNZG09J1 imports

Nice watch

The watch arrived timely and well packaged; in perfect condition. The inner packaging appears to be official Seiko with user’s manual and warranty registration. I wanted a watch that was understated and utilitarian, yet with a classic look. That is exactly what I received. The face is relatively uncluttered and easy to read. The watch is a bit heavier than I expected it to be but not so heavy that I am always aware of its presence. It is comfortable to wear and it does not interfere with my jacket sleeve. I have just under an 8 inch wrist circumference and the wrist band is attached at the 3rd hole from the end. There are 6 more holes for smaller wrists, spanning 1-1/2 inches. After 3 days of wearing, the wrist band fabric has relaxed a bit; I may snug it up a bit in the weeks to come. I almost never read instructions when I assemble or set things up. That is why the day/date on my watch changes at 12 noon! Read the instructions and you’ll be OK. Regarding accuracy, it seems I have lost 1 minute over a 3 day period. Keeping in mind that this is a mechanical watch and not a quartz electric, that’s satisfactory to me. I love the idea that, as an automatic self-winder, the watch will never, ever need a new battery or capacitor. Self sufficient! All in all, I like the look of this watch and I like wearing it. My partner wants me to get a Bond NATO wristband for it; perhaps someday. In the meantime, this is a very good value for the money.

Decided to get a Seiko 5 because the model has been around since 1963 and seems to have won many fans with its ruggedness and straightforward design. I also decided to get the version made in Japan (SNZG09J1), as everything I'd read indicated that the ones made there are higher quality than one you'd get at most retailers in the U.S. (which I believe are made in Malaysia). How much higher, I can't say. But so far, the watch seems to be solidly made, with a nice hefty feel. The face of the SNZG09J1 is dark olive green and the strap is a slightly lighter olive green. The strap has an additional piece of material over the area where the holes are for reinforcement. Strap width appears to be 22mm. (Sometimes this watch is listed as having a 21mm strap, but I measured 22mm.) The dial is very easy to read -- noticeably better than other military-style watches I've had in the $100-$200 price range. Numbers 13 through 24 (for military and European time) are displayed at about a third of the size of numbers 1 through 12. The seconds hand, which has a red arrow-shaped tip, makes no sound, for all practical purposes. (I can hear it only if I hold the watch directly next to my ear.) And yes, "MADE IN JAPAN" appears on the face between numbers 8 and 6. I bought the watch (via Amazon) from MOON-DOG. What I received was exactly what I ordered. Service was excellent. When I placed the order, there was a notice that my order would not be processed for two days because of a holiday in Japan. Although I knew this would delay shipment slightly, I appreciated the clear, honest communication. I knew what to expect. But the watch seems to have been shipped immediately after the holiday, and it arrived quickly through Japan Post Service. It was very well wrapped, and the watch, inside a Seiko box, was in perfect condition. I would highly recommend MOON-DOG.

This watch was good for a year, but it no longer keeps time properly. There's no damage, but It's been gaining 10 seconds every 24 hours now. I reached out to Seiko, but they won't help me because this seller isn't Seiko approved. I reached out to Creation Watches directly, but they wouldn't help me since it was purchased through Amazon. There is no option for exchange or refund through Amazon. I will be looking for a Seiko approved box store to repurchase a similar watch.

This is my first automatic, tho this is about my second week with it to make a correct evaluation, I'll come back later, for starters it's just awesome if you like the simplicity in a watch, just the time (I whish I there was a version of only that LOL), for time keeping it's on the odd end, I knew from reviews you'll loose accuracy over time +/- 15s also stated in the manual tho I found that the biggest addition is oneself when making the adjustment, I'll probably go later with a watch expert to set it up properly, overall in a week I seen it fall behind 10s, but in the second week it hasn't added more, I atribuye this to me setting it up plus the normal accuracy error due the mechanics (don't worry it does have an adjustment lever tho I don't have the confidence to do it myself lol), as for the quality of the materials, the straps were... Well not for me, tho I like the see thru back I still changed them for a Zulu strap, people say the glass will scratch but only time will tell, at least for me it has hold pretty well. The last but not least thing is the luminous, dang some few hours of light will make it super bright, good thing it dim down as the night sets it.

I had purchased this watch as a "Father's days gift to myself, to replace a higher-end automatic chronograph that is not functioning after repairs. Also like the historical heritage to the older "MACV-SOG watch". When I received the watch was surprised to see the Arabic days of the week, although it did not bother me as much. I have a similar Russian automatic with Cyrillic days of the week. Overall, extremely satisfied with the look and feel of the watch. The watch keeps time accurately, and have not had to reset it, yet (it's only been a week so...). Dial is visible at night or mid-day. Overall I feel this was definitely worth the expense.

This is a great watch! My hubby can't live without it! very comfortable and the color matches every of his outfits, reliable and a good value for the money he paid. I wish the bands are inter-changeable that's all

Pros: - Very legible - Fantastic quality - More accurate than I expected, mine is currently running +14 seconds/day. Considering the fact that the factory tolerance is -30/+45 seconds, +14 a day is nothing (your mileage may vary). - The strap itself is higher quality that I anticipated. Cons: - The buckle itself seems to be made of plastic. This isnt too big of a deal considering the fact that a metal buckle is less than $20. I've had my watch for 3 months wearing it daily to my physical job and there is no signs of it failing whatsoever. Conclusion: A very solid introductory to someone who wants to get into mechanical watches, and a solid daily beater watch for people with more high end pieces.

Ce n'est pas ma première montre. C'est ma 3ème montre de type 'automatique' (voir photos) que je privilégie maintenant (avec celles à remonter), les autres sont des quartz. Vous pouvez dans mes photos la comparer au niveau de sa taille avec une 35mm Longines Conquest et une Longines HydroConquest 41mm :) Voici ses caractéristiques : mouvement 23 rubis - étanche a 100m - diamètre de 42mm (elle fait plutôt large et moderne) - des aiguilles bien visibles et ses chiffres lisibles façon montre de plongée même si ce n'en est pas une vraiment (10bars/100m environ et déconseillé selon seiko pour des utilisations de ce genre) - luminescentes dans l'obscurité - une couleur alu mat gris sur le devant et ses flancs - un mécanisme visible sur l'arrière - un bracelet textile plutôt large (22mm) à boucle ardillon qui lui permettra de me suivre dans mes voyages et aussi lors de mes activités extérieures (on verra comment vont vieillir les 'pompes de la montre' maintenant le bracelet... il me semblent assez mobiles quand on appuie sur elles...). Je suis plutôt étonné du rendu final de cette toquante car je m'attendais à ce qu'elle soit plus petite et surtout plus 'cheap' : il n'en est rien ! Elle convient quand même aux petits poignets comme le mien (mais limite). je ferme au 3ème trou du bracelet ... Elle est construite au japon (modèle xxxJ1) gage de qualité (j'espère!) : je n'ai pas voulu prendre de risque avec le modèle K1 coréen. J'ai trouvé le prix de ce fournisseur intéressant (livraison en provenance de HK). Le mode d'emploi est inexistant ou presque (et le certificat de garantie n'a pas été rempli - on verra ce qui se passera quand elle aura un soucis...). J'ai dû, pour régler la date/jour après avoir tiré un cran a droite, descendre pour régler les noms de la journée (en anglais) et vers le haut pour régler le jour (amusant : il est possible de mettre le N° du jour à la place du nom du jour). C'est assez intuitif finalement. Je n'ai pas eu à secouer longtemps la montre afin qu'elle fonctionne pour toute la première journée (comme j'ai pu le lire dans les autres reviews). Je n'hésiterai pas à enrichir mon commentaire au besoin (je pars dans quelques jours au Costa Rica) ce sera un bon test ;)

I did a ton of research on watches before going with this, and so glad I did. Its the perfect watch for what i need. There isn't a single unnecessary feature on this watch. Pure function and practicality. Completely versatile; work day to weekend, goes with anything. Big enough without being chunky. And i love the darker green of this version. My research said Seiko made in Japan is higher quality as its all made in-house, but you will pay an extra customs fee when picking up at the post office (I'm Canadian and it was $50). But so far timekeeping is impeccable and has been worth the cost.

Me considero fan de la marca, y este reloj se ha convertido en uno de mis favoritos (Por encima de mi SKX007), la relacion calidad - precio es inmejorable (Lo compre en el prime day a excelente precio), los materiales, el diseño, bueno casi todo me parecio perfecto, el unico pero que le pongo es la correa, se ve barata y muy rigida, pero puedo vivr con eso, se la cambie por una nato y asunto arreglado (Creo que se alcanza a ver eso en la foto), el tamaño es perfecto, el SNK807 y sus derivados es un reloj muy bello pero a mi parecer pequeño, este es ideal (para mi) en tamaño.
