This thing works excellent!
10+ stars, not 5 stars. I don't know why I've spent so many years not owning a quick disconnect for my air hammer. It really makes the experience of using it so much better. I installed this on my monster Chicago Pneumatic air hammer. It's nice when things are backwards compatible with multiple brands. Some items just have an industrial bulletproof look and feel to them. This is one of those items.

10x better than the spring style retainer
These quick change chucks are so much better than the factory spring retainer. Definitely worth the money. We equip all our Astro .498 Air Hammers with these quick change chucks. I like to put Loctite on the 3 set screws so they cannot back out with vibration.

Only way to interchange bits
Using this makes it so easy to change bits on a hammer gun. You do need to really snug up the three allen set screws that helps hold it in place.

If you own a 4980 or the 498k, you NEED this
It's disgraceful that astro didn't include this in the box with either of these air guns. Damage almost occurred because I was using my 4980 out of the box with their spring retainer. The bit shot off and hit my wall hard. Imagine if there was someone else near me. Even if I was pushing against something hard the bit on the spring retainer would fly off almost instantly, shooting in a different direction each time. These guns are too powerful for a spring retainer. It's not even a beehive retainer. I didn't use the 4980 until after this came in the mail. Now I haven't had any problems in the 4 months I've been using her. Just keep in mind this item is 100% necessary for operation of either 4980 or the 498k. It's a simple design and I think it will last a long time. I've only just gotten the 498k since I used my big nasty so much, and immediately put another one of these on. Never trying the spring retainer on a .498 rivet gun again.

For the cp717 .498 shank this quick chuck is an awesome upgrade quickly switch chisel bits without the hassle of bending the spring style holder that comes standard on most air hammers
