Gold color was rock-hard (black was ok)
I bought 2 of these magnetic putty things, one in gold for my 3 y/o and the black one for my 7 y/o. The black one was a little hard, otherwise fine - gave that one a 4-star rating - but... the gold one was ROCK HARD. No putty action. Hard for even adults to manipulate and tore rather than stretched. Temperature is like 76 in the house so wasn't a temperature issue.Naturally I had an unhappy 3 y/o on my hands so I had to try to fix it. From here on out this is less a review for the product and more of just information for anyone else who runs into a similar issue:1) This is a silicone/oil-based putty. It is not slime. It's similar to silly putty, like the stuff we played with as 80s/90s kids.2) Kneading mineral oil in doesn't do much to change texture3) Microwaving it (5-10 seconds is plenty bc of the ferrous content) will make it very hot and slightly softer4) Adding lotion (we had vanicream on hand) makes it INCREDIBLY SOFT and sticky. I put a pea-sized amount and completely overshot. Putty is now a big sticky stringy gloopy mess.5) Adding corn starch does not rescue it. It seems like it's working initially, but then it becomes sticky again.6) Same for baking soda. Also gives you false hope, not that you had any left by now.7) After cleaning up the whole gloopy putty - corn starch - baking soda mess, I discovered some of the gloop had adhered to my yoga pants8) Luckily, I already knew what would dissolve putty - more vanicream. Lotion + mild scraping with fingernails followed by regular hand-washing with laundry detergent = no more putty on clothes.Oh, and the magnets that came with it are round disks (think watch battery shaped) and not cubes. Small detail but given the other disappointments... yeah.Long story short, if your putty is too hard, add in just the tiniest bit of lotion. Do not overshoot. If your putty is too soft... good luck, I have given up on finding a solution.

Impressive toy!
My son wanted this for a while. It isn't slime like but more thick, putty like as it says in the title. He was playing it for days. Got some extra magnets for fun!

Not a terrible product, but not as good as some others I've had before
I've had other magnetic putties before, I mainly use it to clean off the ferrous dirt my neodymium magnets collect. As you can see in the pictures, this came in the tin inside a plastic bag but appeared to not be fully mixed out something, with patches of putty that had no magnetic particles. It didn't but me too much, especially for the price. So I just took it out and kneaded it to mix it in. As I played with it and cleaned my magnets, I noticed that it would keep separating if in contact with a magnet for a while. I hadn't had another putty do this, so I thought it was a bit odd. I actually got my biggest magnet and used it to separate some out, thinking that maybe it was just some of it that weren't molecularly bonded correctly and I was seeing if I could get that but out. Then I hit the main lump again with the big magnet (the one that came with it is abouta quarter of an inch cube but I had one that was about a half inch) and it did it again. And again. After five times, reach time getting another lump of white putty to separate, I realized the manufacturer just made it the cheap way by adding ferrous particles to regular putty. It is what it is and probably what I should've expected for the price, but I will say I do like the magnet and googly eyes they include with it, or it would've been a solid two star meh from me. Is suggest getting a better quality one of you're planning on using it as a fidget or something, but if you don't care so much about the putty itself and are using it as a cleaning product like me, this isn't a bad deal. And I've had worse for more money.

its small and it smells
Not too happy with this buddy. It smells really weird and it doesn't stretch as nicely as some Aaron's thinking putties. Please make sure you understand even though you pay less, you get even lesser. Its a small can.

Works well
I bought this as a stocking stuffer for my son but I wanted to check it out first. It works great I’m only disappointed in the magnet. It’s not a smooth cube and has a sharp edge on one side. It has a look like a corner was cut off leaving a sharpe edge. If it proves to be an issue for my son we’ll have to use different magnets.

Fun putty! We love it!!
This is actually some pretty cool stuff! Hold a magnet close to the putty and watch closely because the putty will slowly go towards the magnet! It's really neat! In the pictures I posted there is actually three magnets in it and it is constantly changing. it' At anytime we can take the magnets out and start all over it's a lot of fun. It comes with four eyes and one square magnet and like I said we added a couple of our own magnets. You can definitely slowly pull the putty around with a magnet.. or allow the putty to eat the magnet or magnets & watch all the changes! So I put the putty & eyes back into their container, then I sat the magnet that came with it plus two magnets that I had on hand on top of the lid which is not magnetic, when I went to open the lid Putty had stretched to the lid. I've read reviews that people say it's greasy & stinky, ours is not either of those things in fact I just ordered more of it in blue & black. I recommend this. It's fun.
