Although this buckle guard is marketed for children, I actually purchased it to use with my dog—and it’s turned out to be one of the smartest pet safety accessories I’ve bought. We always buckle our dog’s car harness into the back seat to keep her secure during drives and, most importantly, safe in the event of an accident. A week before I found this product, she accidentally stepped on the seatbelt release and jumped into the front seat—onto the steering wheel and nearly causing me to go off the road. That close call led me to search for a solution, and this one works perfectly. The guard is made from a thick, rubberized silicone that’s sturdy but flexible enough to stretch snugly over the buckle. Once it’s on, it completely prevents accidental unbuckling, whether it’s a child fidgeting or a pet stepping on it. You can still unlock it with the included metal keychain tool, but honestly, I didn’t want that on my keychain and I just use my house key to push through the slot. I keep one installed in my truck, and the second one is in my wife’s vehicle—so no matter what we’re driving, our dog is safely buckled and can’t get loose. These items are a lifesaver now I can relax and not worry about my son buckling his seat. Now I am more or less worried because with the help of this has made it more easier for me. I sooooo recommend this item. 10/10 recommended.

I have a child with autism and this little thing is a lifesaver. Am I being dramatic? Possibly. But it offers peace of mind while I am driving. My child learned very quickly how to unbuckle himself and it would always happen while I was on the highway and couldn't turn around or easily pull over. This little device slides easily over the receptor and the belt clicks in without any issues. It can easily be unbuckled with the provided key or a car key. Literally, anything sturdy enough to push the button. I know first responders will easily be able to unbuckle the belt if - God forbid - anything were to happen. For the $9 that I paid for it, I would 10000000% recommend it.

Really like this product it doesn't fit the buckle so tight that the release button won't come back up like the hard plastic ones do

*Edit: My wife and I ended up finding a good use for these after our dog kept setting off the "unbuckled passenger" alarm for the backseat and stepped on the buckle several times on one trip. Our original review, below, still stands for theeir intended purpose. My wife and I found these less than ideal. While they ensured our daughter couldn't unbuckle while we were going down the road, they made it extremely difficult for us to both buckle and unbuckle her and we ended up taking them off. They are sturdy but they just didn't suit our needs and therefore I don't personally recommend them.

The material feels good quality and the cover is easy to fit without needing any tools or modifications to the seatbelt\. Once fitted, it stays in place and doesn’t interfere with normal use when you actually need to release the buckle\. Overall, it’s well made, easy to use and works exactly as described\. Very happy with it\.

Was absolutely impressed with product. It comes with a release key that you have to push into another slot to release seatbelt but it doesn’t take too much time to release and the beauty about it, my mother who has Alzheimer's and constantly removes seatbelt while we are driving can no longer release the button on her own. The product just slips on over buckle and can be removed easily enough for any other passenger that doesn’t require it.
