Very nice katana
I’ve got many swords. I wanted to try one of the $70 Siwode katanas based on excellent reviews. The sword came in a perfectly fitted styrofoam container, inside a fitted cardboard container. Excellent packaging! These are shipped with a heavily oiled blade, covered with a nicely fitted plastic bag, so could probably sit around for years with no blade rust, while in the original packaging. The sheath is wood with some sort of thick hard plastic exterior, perhaps a heat shrink plastic. It is beautifully done and completely tight. I like it because I think it will be EXTREMELY durable and allow me to carry it often in the truck and hiking without worrying about it, while being 100% waterproof.I just cleaned and oiled the blade. It is perfectly straight, nicely polished, and easily slices paper from the tip clear down to the guard. So… This katana is an AMAZING BARGAIN for $70.It’s my first sword that feels tough enough to actually carry frequently.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It will cut.
This is a beautiful blade. Its light weight. The Saya is light weight but feels sturdy enough to use as a bludgeon in the off hand. The Kageo on the Saya and the Tsuka-Maki on the hilt are both neat, clean, and tight. The Kashira is tucked tightly inside the Tsuka-Maki. The brass hanako sits snuggly inside the wooden Koiguchi. Delivery packaging was good. Included a card board company card with company contact info and which was a nice touch. The blade came wrapped nicely inside protective plastic and was neatly oiled which made it easy to clean for immediate use. The blade was sharp. I tested it on the box and was able to deliver 2 clean cuts. It's so light that single handed use was easy. This is a wonderful tool, and I'm honored to be in possession of it.

Too heavy.
Siwode makes good stuff for the price. Their blades are thicker than normal. This blade did not have a hamon and it had a groove cut to save weight but it wasnt near deep enough of a groove and the blade is far too thick for this to be a speed blade which is why I bought it. I have a T10 blade from them that is much heavier and practically useless for Iaido draws. Its good for thick cutting. This blade was meant to be my Iaido draw blade. ITs too heavy for that but can still be used. With some strength training the weight of the blade wont matter as much but its far far far too top heavy. Ive never held a sword with such a noticeable weight imbalance. Quick frankly its because the morons used the same thickness of blade as in their heavier T10 models yet didnt extend the handle or add any weight to it. You needed less than 7mm thickness here. These guys are no sword making masters but for the price, its still good value. Depends on what you want to do with a sword. If you want pure speed , dont go siwode. They are for power and cutting, not slashing and Iaido. Since most of the people you may be forced to defend yourself against wont be wearing iron or metal armor, you dont need power and cutting force, you need speed and a slashing , razor edge. This is not that. everything looked good though. No scratches or anything wrong with the straightness. You get what you see in the picture.

Just do it
The media could not be loaded. I have to say , I was ready to be disappointed, but boy was I wrong. This thing is really good , we’ll worth 3times the price. Not a toy or display sword. It’s sturdy with no play in any of the components. Fits snug but not to tight in the sheath. I’m gonna buy another

Very good entry level Katana
Was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of construction. The Kashira, Fuchi and Menuki were well placed and secure. The Tsuka Ito is very tight and quite even. The Tsuba, Seppa and Habaki are tight. The blade is well finished, straight and has good geometry. The profile of the Tsuka is comfortable and well shaped. The Katana feels light and nimble in the hand. I can highly recommend this as a very good value for an entry level Katana.

Great 1st sword
This sword is a great value. Feels well crafted. Razor sharp out of the box. I've cut a few times with it, and no chips on blade, loss of sharpness. Will update later if I run into any issues. Definitely a great starter sword. Be extremely careful using this, you could severely hurt yourself or others. One complaint was some mold in the Saya. But doesn't really matter imo.
