Dog Leash by Lupine in 1" Wide Black 6-Foot Long with Padded Handle

***Update Jan 2018: STILL FIVE STARS! Have used it all day every day for a full year now - and it has held up extremely well! No signs of wear nor tear or fraying at all. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, making it difficult for me to grab or hold things sometimes - thus why the Tab is so helpful for us & why we ordered it in the first place, not because our dog is untrained. But we have also found it to come in handy in numerous other situations where he is off leash; for instance even inside our own home when we have a new visitor. So we can "hold" him and assure someone (who may be afraid of big dogs) that he is friendly - despite his intimidating looks. Great product at a great price!ORIGINAL REVIEW - JAN 2017: It's the only way I can get a quick hold of our 1 year old, 100 pound, German Shepherd Dog. Especially when my husband isn't nearby and the neighbor dogs & my dogs have each other all riled up and running our very long fence line. Breaking up 6 (to as many as 10) barking dogs would be impossible without this lightweight training tab on his collar. Once I have control of him, my other 2 (or on occassion 3) other dogs will follow suit and behave as well. He wears it all day, then we usually take it off at night for bedtime.It is very lightweight, thus does not seem to annoy it bother our dog. Yet made of a durable & rugged material that should withstand the test of time. The length is just perfect for getting hold of my dog: too long to interfere with his daily dog day, and not too short - making it easy for me to grab him quickly when needed.

I'm incredibly picky about the equipment I use every single day, like leashes, and I've been searching for the perfect leash for me for awhile, without a whole lot of success. Now that I've tried this one I think I've finally found The One. This leash is lightweight, comfortable, and durable... and if your dog does manage to somehow destroy it, Lupine will replace it for you. The material is a lot lighter and easier on the hands than your typical pet-store nylon leash, and the snap is very smooth and easy going on and off, with the swivel working nicely to keep the leash from twisting too much. It's also not so heavy that it drags on the collar just by being attached. The handle is padded without being heavy. If it gets dirty, muddy, or covered in slobber, a bit of water will get it clean very easily, and unlike leather it doesn't require any conditioning. I've been using this for several weeks and waiting to find something about it that I don't like, but there's nothing. I love it. I'd give it more than five stars if I could. Between this and my waist-attachment jogging leash, I'm pretty well set... and if I need more leashes for whatever reason, I'll just be ordering more of this one.

This is a fantastically versatile piece of hardware. The clip is top notch and the nylon webbing military grade. My dog, who never saw a leash he didn't want to bite through, destroys all sorts of leashes with traffic loops within days or even hours. When you have an extremely active, tall, 80 pound Lab / Shepherd mix who wants to jump up and lick every kid's face he sees, a traffic loop is essential for a "short leash."Yet using this tab on the collar proper isn't necessarily the best use, in my opinion. If you want to train your dog and want a handle to grab, it's probably better to get a collar with a built in handle that sits above the neck, that doesn't flop down on the side of the neck. My dog had two problems with this tab attached to the collar directly: 1) he kept trying to bite at it and 2) it would sometimes get caught on things when he was off leash.So, without thinking too much, I found I wound up with three uses for this great product:1) Occasionally attaching it directly to the collar as a handle - but I do this rarely, because of the reasons stated above2) I've started to use my bicycle lock cable as leash sometimes, and this becomes the handle, attached to one of the cable loops!3) With a chain leash, this becomes an extremely versitile traffic handle which I can adjust link by link - this is 95% of the usage, which allows me to keep him in check when walking by distractions, other dogs, or peopleSo I have to say, without a doubt, that if you were to consider the amount of usage per hour divided by the cost of the item this has to be one of the most versatile and valuable of almost any item I've ever purchased for my dog. So long as he doesn't get it in his mouth, I don't see ever having to buy another!

I have taken my chewed dog leash back twice, and both times was astounded by the great customer service I received from Lupine! The first time I returned a leash I asked if they could send me a new leash but in a different color, and with out hesitation, Lupine did so. The second time, GET THIS, not only did I asked for the original color back, BUT a bump up to the 1 inch sized leash from a 3/4 inch size. A few days later, with no questions asked, they sent the new, bigger, original colored leash in the mail! I was gobsmacked! I thought for sure they would ask to charge the additional fee onto a credit card, or just say we don't do that sort of return, you know the usual runaround. Needless to say, I am extremely happy and impressed by this company, and would continue to buy from them in the future.The leash itself is a great leash, too. It's very sturdy for my 70lb pit bull mix, and yet very lightweight. I don't feel like I'm carrying around a few pounds of extra leash weight when I'm using this leash. All in all, it's a very safe and comfortable leash.KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK LUPINE!!!

I wanted a 4 foot leash with a ring connecting the handle so that the leash could be easily clipped around my body when my dog was off leash.Overall meets my needs as expected. A little wear/fraying/fuzziness on the border of the nylon leash over the years but minor. The only annoying thing is that just walking with the leash draped over my dog's back it twists up. It's not bad or anything, but I assume a higher quality leash may have a swivel that works better.

Works well as a short lead for my dog. In combination with a Gentle Leader style of training halter it makes it very easy to keep control of even large dogs while teaching them to heel etc.Construction is of decent quality with a strong spring on the clasp. The nylon webbing is flexible and touch, well stitched and it should last a long time with normal wear and tear.

Great product. Some reviews said it was a bit short for two dogs but I find the length to be perfect for my big boys. Sturdy, well made product that I would definitely recommend.

The padded handle on this leash makes it super comfortable, even when my dog yanks in an unexpected direction. The inward-clip mechanism takes some getting used to because it is unique but it definitely feels sturdy and strong. Love this leash. Recommend!

This was exactly what I was looking for. The clasp works well and is strong, and the quality of the stitching and overall leash is great. This is a great tool for teaching dogs that you are walking them- not the other way around

Great product as all Lupine products I've seen are. Very well made, comfortable handle, great metal ring just under the handle convenient for attaching poo bags and it's the perfect length. Love it.
