Wellness Wellbites Soft Natural Dog Treats, Lamb & Salmon, 8-Ounce Bag

Ever since my dog has been diagnosed with food allergies, I was told by the vet to feed him fish-based products. No more poultry-based products and no wheat/grain based-products. As a dog owner, I can tell you that no matter which pet store you go to (Petco, PetSmart, Pet Supermarket), finding meat-based treats WITHOUT poultry in it is somewhat difficult.One of my dog's favorite treats prior to finding out his food allergies was feeding him chicken jerky. He never really liked any other treat as much as chicken jerky. However I refuse to buy any chicken jerky treat made anywhere but the USA. Why you ask? If you haven't been paying attention to the news or heard, there has been documented cases of pets dying and a majority of those cases are linked to chicken jerky treats that are made in China. The majority of chicken jerky treats are made there. So whether it's true in killing dogs, I wasn't going to take any chances.As a replacement, I started looking around to see if they made "fish jerky" for dogs. I found that they did but unfortunately, the brand that my local pet stores carry are the  Dogswell Happy Hips Treats for Dogs, Salmon Jerky, 15-Ounce Package . Unfortunately for me, the majority (if not all) of the Dogswell lineup are treats made in China.So I came to Amazon and started looking around and found these treats. I feed my dog Wellness dog food, so I kinda feel stupid for not looking at their brand. These treats are made in the USA!!! Now I have that peace of mind that I'm feeding safe dog treats by a company with a good reputation. Not only that, my dog loves these treats nearly as much as he loved his chicken jerky!

These treats are soft and smell like the lamb & salmon that went into them, so my dog (a 100 lb Great Dane mix) absolutely LOVES them and gets SO excited when I open the bag and he can smell them. Given his size, he quickly gobbles one up -- each is ~1x1" -- so that I usually feed him several at a time, but one treat might be good for a medium-sized dog, and you can easily break these up into smaller pieces for small dogs -- these treats are very flexible that way. The ingredients are healthy (lamb & salmon are first, then brown rice, oatmeal, glycerin, guar gum, molasses, carrots, salt, smoke flavor, garlic, blueberries, flaxseed, sweet potatoes, apples, phosphoric acid, sorbic acid & mixed tocopherols to preserve freshness) and these are made in USA, so they are a quality treat. However, my dog has recently developed diabetes, so I prefer to give him treats with higher protein. From the bag, the nutritional analysis: protein not <15%, fat not <12%, fiber not >2% (and 12 calories/piece). For comparison, the Pure Rewards treats by Wellness have >28% protein, and are also-grain-free. Both are similar size and texture, and my dog happily eats both, so I will continue to buy Pure Rewards for him in the future. However, if protein content is not an issue for your dog, they will likely LOVE these as much as mine does!

These were the first treats my rescue dog ever ate! He was crazy for them. Unfortunately, they are not easy to find in the stores. Since he likes the texture (soft/chewy), I found other treats that satisfied that preference. Now that he has had other soft treats, he is not as crazy for them as he once was, but they still rate high on his list, so the rating is based on his liking one other treat more. I like the treats because they provide a change of taste and healthy ingredients. It is almost impossible to find fish in canned dog food, so this provides some variety to his sensory experience. Crazy as that may sound, he spent the first four years of life in a crate with very little stimulation of any sort. Little by little, he is learning to accept new experiences, and to trust that I am not endangering him.

My dog loves these. They are hard to find in our local stores and I was glad to find them on Amazon. I use them for training. They are soft and perfect for training. Also, I like the that they are made from natural ingredients. They are little square treats which are a good size for an occasional treat but too big for training. I take a handful of them and cut each square into 6 parts with a razor blade (which is easy to do and only takes a few minutes because they are soft). That makes them the perfect size for training and using this method I get lots and lots of training treats per bag. After I cut them I keep them in a small plastic baggie and they don't dry out before they are all consumed. I like this product and so does my puppy.

I have gotten this product at the local pet food store, but thought the price for an "8 ounce" bag was pretty good. Lo and behold, when it came it was only 6 ounces and therefore I paid much more than I would have at the pet food store. This company needs to change their item description! Nothing wrong with the product.

My wonderful fur babies are always expecting a treats. I am bad at spoiling them. I go between local stores to keep the variety up but have been finding they are all starting to sell the same product. I soon began scouring Amazon to find good products for them that are healthy.I found these wellness bites and thought I should try them. They are a square treat and my dogs love them. The cost is very good compared to what I find at local stores. This was only $11 for a bag and the bag is still going. My two dogs love the Lamb & Salmon flavors.

Have been giving these goodies to my dogs for about seven years now. My dogs are spoiled rotten and have refined, high-brow taste for only expensive treats. Somehow they have trained me into providing them a budget-busting array of treats made from New Zealand lamb from ZiwiPeak; but fortunately my dogs love the Lamb&Salmon Wellness WellBites and they have no idea these are quite affordable to my delight! I feel like I've gotten one over on the little rascals- haa ha! My dogs have always been crazy about these Wellness WellBites. It's quite amazing they haven't tired of them. I whip the bag out and they instantly clamor for them. This is their crack; they'll do anything for it. My grumpy one will even perform his tricks without any begrudging when this is held over his head.

My dog loves these. The are soft and nicely sized, (approx. 1" square). My only wish is that they were slightly cheaper.
