Wonderful !!
Itโs a long read, but a good testimony: Iโve got a 7m Rottweiler & no matter how much we train & practice, he still fixates on other dogs during our walks & it was becoming hazardous for me to walk him. Because heโs still a puppy he wants to play & sees other dogs as new friends. Luckily it isnโt out of aggression, but I wonโt be able to control him when heโs 100+lbs if itโs a problem now. Iโve tried many different harnesses & collars before the prong collar. This collar was the last step Iโd take before hiring a dog trainer to help me break his fixation during walks. THIS COLLAR DID THE JOB!! Yesterday, during our walk, a doodle ran up on us & the leash was yanked through my fingers when he went to meet the dog half way, causing a nasty blister and abrasion. Even though I had grip on the leash he still pulled wholeheartedly to where I had to lift him up by his chest harness & make him walk on his hind legs to get home. I donโt want anything worse in the future when something unexpected happens. Today on our walk with the prong collar it only took him a couple corrections & it was like day/night!!!! Usually he likes to sniff & will rush to get to the smell, causing me to have to correct the pull, not today! I even got a video that shows two different dogs on opposite side of the street barking at us while we walked by. Before it would have been a fight to the death to get him to walk straight & not fixate. Today, a couple corrections & I never even felt a hard yank on the leash from him! Iโm impressed & will recommend this collar to everyone!! I like the appearance of the collar against his black fur, less obvious & wonโt cause people to assume heโs a mean dog. Easy to remove & add links for it to fit properly. Strong construction. The clasp is easy to undo & feels secure when locked. Simple enough to get on & off the neck. I can see this being a good training tool for me as well. Very satisfied with this product.

Helpful Training Tool
Yes, I was absolutely hesitant to use these collars initially. I avoided it and probably "over treated" my two pups trying to train them, but maybe I was actually bribing them. I had two dog trainers recommend this collar and I understand others may not. My two pups are 7 different breeds (did the dog dna testing) and they are large dogs. They are super, incredibly sweet, loving dogs. I was afraid I would cause them to distrust me and I was afraid I would eliminate some of their loving, sweet natures by using this training collar. I was, very thankfully, so wrong. Because they are large puppies (67lbs and 80lbs), they do not know their own strength, get over-excited, and are more focused on getting what they want than on their training walks. Used correctly, and I sincerely mean correctly, they are fabulous training tools. I must also admit they are terrific safety features for me since my dogs will not take off after a squirrel or anything else while I walk them with these collars. I quickly believed all the information in the many, many YouTube videos I watched and told by the trainers I noted. These collars are a very humane way to train dogs. Again, this is only true when used properly. Admittedly, I originally figured these collars were worth a try and I did not have to continue using them if I did not want to or if I did not like them. Before I used these collars, I used harnesses that were designed to reduce pulling when walking. I would practically "fight" them trying to restrict their moving forward, sideways, or any direction they wanted to take me. My pups did not understand why they were being limited and it was a continuous battle. Truthfully, walks were not fun nor too bonding for us. Once I used these collars, they learned almost immediately that they have control over their correction. It helped them choose to walk well and focus on our walking. Yes, I heard two light yelps the very first time. Yeah, I hated it. I knew they were not hurt or choked at all. They were surprised. Do you blame them? They did not know what these collars were and they were used to tugging me along on walks. That was the only slight yelp I've heard since using them. My neck, shoulders, and back also thank these collars. Most importantly, my dogs actually like them. Sincerely. They know every time we go on a walk they wear them. I pull out the collars and they are genuinely excited. They are very well behaved on our urban streets and I get compliments for my just turned 1 year old dogs. I will emphasize one more time that the collar must be used as the training tool for which it is designed. Following the dog trainers' instructions will make these collars pleasant. It helps my dogs to know their limits, correct themselves (they have the control), and get to enjoy our walks. And, yes, I give treats with these collars on while walking when they do what I ask like sit at a corner. I really do not use the collars for more than leash walking. I noticed that using them for walks was enough for my dogs to train better with me in other settings. These collars are well made. They are strong. They are very sturdy. I appreciate that they come in black. These collars are stronger and more secure than the ones I see in pet stores. Like any training collar, they will fail some day. Because of that, I use a carabiner to connect them to their regular collar when walking. I also purchased additional hooks so that I can avoid that potential day by changing hooks out.

Great for large dogs
Real herm springer prong collar. Wonderful product. Keeps my dog from pulling and choking himself. Wonderful for training. Had to order more prongs to increase the length to fit my dog. My dog is large and this size works great for him. Very well made. I like the o-ring on it for the leash to connect to. Highly recommend.

Works great!
A friend of mine recommended that I get the Herm Sprenger prong collar for my ten-pound dog. She is a small dog who is quite yappy with people and other dogs when I take her on walks. She has a piercing bark, so it is a little annoying for others and for me. After some research, I found that Herm Sprenger is the gold standard when it comes to dog training equipment and this prong collar is no exception. This collar is high quality, well made, easy to size and adjust, works great, simple to put on and take off, and it is relatively comfortable for my dog. When she has it on, she doesn't seem to notice. Sometimes I forget to remove the prong training collar, and she doesn't have any issues with it. This prong collar can be easily put on and taken off by pinching one of the links to hook and unhook the collar. Adjusting the size of the collar was also very simple, I just removed the number of links that is needed for the proper fit. I initially removed two links in order to get the perfect fit. After giving my dog a short haircut, I had to remove one extra link since the collar would have been too loose with the new haircut. Once the hair grows back, I can easily add back the extra link. The prong collar is quite effective in controlling my dog's barking. After her first bark and making the correction with the new prong collar, she realized that the barking was not acceptable. On most walks now, after about a month of use, my dog's barking has improved over 95%. As long as I am consistent with the corrections, she doesn't have the urge or need to bark. She has really become a good dog citizen. In the photo, you might have noticed the magenta carabiner clip that is attached to a metal ring on the prong collar and my dog's regular collar. This is recommended as a safety precaution in case the prong collar accidentally comes off the dog. In that situation, your dog would no longer have a collar around his neck without having this safeguard. I have full confidence that the Herm Sprenger prong collar will stay intact, but I have read that the cheaper brands can fall apart during use with dire consequences. I figured I would be cautious even with the Herm Sprenger collar since it just takes seconds to set-up. My dog is ten years old, so it is never too late to teach an old dog new tricks. I think the Herm Sprenger is a more expensive prong collar compared to knockoffs, but I feel the quality of the collar and safety of my dog is well worth it.

Life changing for walking bad pullers
Started using one a few months ago and life changing for walking a dog whose breed is notorious for being bad pullers. Just bought our second one now as the Humane Society made me surrender her first one last weekend in order to for them to treat her.....they are a "no fear" facility and prong collars are not tolerated so don't bring your dog there with one. Switch it out with a regular soft collar or else you'll be out 40 some dollars and have to buy a new one.

Collar Buckle is Moveable
I have the 2.25mm Herm Sprenger prong collar which has worked very well with my Siberian Husky. I did have to add a few links as my dog grew in size, but this did not affect the functionality of the collar. One thing that I did not like about this collar, when I first received it, was that with the leash attachment at the top of the dogโs neck, this placed the "Clicklock Buckle Quick Release Fastener" at the bottom of the dog's neck at the back of his chin. This positioning makes it hard to reach and fasten/open the buckle, especially with the dog being excited about going for (or ending) a walk. However, since the collar worked very well to stop the dog from pulling on his leash, I put up with this inconvenient buckle placement for some time. Then one day, as I was examining the collar, I realized that the buckle did not have to remain in this "factory placed" position. After a few trial-and-error attempts, I was able to move the buckle over to the upper side of the collar making the locking and removal of this collar much easier. So, the purpose of this review is to let other customers know that, if the buckle on this prong collar is not in a convenient position for placing it on (or taking it off) your dog, it can be moved. To some, this may seem obvious, but to others (like myself) it may take some time to realize that by removing the buckle, and repositioning a few of the prongs on the collar, the buckle can be remounted at any position you find most comfortable.

Not exactly as advertised
Still lasting without any problems with the prongs thereโs a possibility some people donโt know how to use this device needs to be just underneath the dogs ears nice a snuggly so it pinching the dog if pulled but I found out sooner or later 4mm isnโt necessary 3.2 is better if your dog has a 25 inch neck if your dog has a bigger neck then get the 4mm This is the 2nd one I bought off of Amazon the 1st one was exactly what I ordered this one doesnโt match up Still seems to be stainless steel and has the swivel on it at least
