PicassoTiles 100 Piece Marble Run Magnetic Tiles Race Track STEM Ages 3+

We bought the PicassoTiles Marble Run 100 Piece Magnetic Tiles as a present for our 3.5-year-old son—and I have to admit, he’s not the only one enjoying them! Think modern-day Mouse Trap meets magnets. He already had a set of PicassoTiles and loves building, so this was a great extension. I was initially concerned that the marbles might be too small, but they’re actually larger than traditional marbles, which was a relief. I still would make note of this for younger kids who are prone to putting random things in their mouths. The colors of the tiles are vibrant and fun to mix and match, adding to the overall play experience. The included photo inspiration booklet is a great touch. My son and I have had a lot of fun recreating the pictures, and then adding onto them to make new, more complex structures. It’s a great way to spark creativity and problem-solving. The only downside is that the stacking and attachment process can be a bit challenging for a 3.5-year-old. It’s definitely more of a team effort at this age, but that’s also what makes it a great bonding activity. One thing to note: the clear tube pieces are a little fragile—we did break one early on, so it’s worth being careful when assembling or taking things apart. We enjoyed this set so much that we ended up buying another for our soon-to-be 5 year old nephew’s birthday. If your child enjoys building and imaginative play, this set is a fantastic choice. Highly recommend!

If your child is old enough that the ball isn’t a choking hazard, buy these! I took these with me to an Airbnb so the grandkids wouldn’t get bored of it rained or the bugs were biting. I have more tiles and they went to town. Some of the adults as well. It really inspired a 5 year old to make something that her sister and cousins could add to and play with. Great engaging idea. I would also suggest buying extra balls and put them up for when they lose the original ones.

My 4 year old great grandchild and I played with the marble run set for nearly two hours on the day the kit arrived. He already had the 100 "classic" set of Picasso tiles. When we discovered it was too difficult for him to attach the chutes to the special tiles, he was easily recruited to build boxes for height and to contain the marble at the end of the run. Hints for building a complex marble run. 1) The chutes don't attach or detach easily to the tiles even for an adult. That is good for the stability of the structure but bad for new designs. To detach the chutes from the tiles, you can use an old hotel key card or an expired credit card to lift up the end and gently pry the chute off the tile. 2) If there are enough of the tiles with the hole in the middle for your design, attach a tile to each end of the chute. Then you just need to rely on the magnets to attach different chutes to each other. Or build several sections with several chutes within the section and both section ends end in a magnet tile. Then you just connect the sections together using the built in magnets rather than having to attach a chute to a tile. This is especially important when building at several elevations. This will allow you to rapidly change the configuration. If you run out of the tiles with the hole in them, first priority for one tile on each end are the small curved chutes and the ones for changes in elevation. For really simple runs, using only ten chutes, you can attach each to two tiles with the hole in them and rapidly change your designs. (There are 21 tiles with the hole in them in the 50 piece set. ) 3) Be sure to build a "corral" for the marble at the end of the run or arrange that the marble will drop into a box. Otherwise you are going to be spending a lot of time searching for the marble which seems to love to roll under the couch. 4) The chutes look and feel flimsy but in actual use they are quite strong. I don't advise it but I actually used a dull butter knife to pry apart a chute and a tile without damage to either. Then I discovered an additional use of a credit card! 5) For height form a tube with two of the longest chutes face to face. The resulting tube is much more sturdy then building boxes to place on each other with the plain magnetic tiles. 6) The long curved green chutes are made to match the height of two magnetic tile boxes of the standard small square tiles in the Picasso set. 7) The small curved chutes fit perfectly within a box made from the standard small square tiles. 8) To involve the younger child in the building process, ask them to help build boxes from plain tiles to support the elevated chutes and to embellish the design by adding on "roofs" and "walls" around the route. Or ask the child which way the marble should go next and build accordingly.

This is a fun and creative building set with lots of pieces and possibilities! Also useful to teach them shapes and colors. I do think the long pieces feel a little flimsy when taking them apart, though. My 3-year-old struggles to put the pieces together and gets frustrated, so I have to do it for him. I’d say it’s probably better suited for bigger kids, maybe around 5+. I also wish it came with more setup ideas specifically designed for the number of pieces included. I started building one of the included designs only to realize halfway through that it required more than one set to complete. Overall, it’s a fun set, but I think older kids would get more out of it.

We are two weeks into our homeschool, and this marble run set has been a favorite activity so far with my kids (ages 10, 7, and the 13 year-old even enjoys designing along with her siblings at times). I have really enjoyed watching them learn about engineering and physics along the way as they design the marble run and make adjustments to get the balls all the way to the end. They have to think about how the number of turns, connections the ball rolls over, and height of each level/drops along the way influence the motion of the ball. As their builds get more elaborate, there is also more critical thinking and planning involved--they have to think several steps ahead. Fantastic educational toy! I am really happy with this purchase; my kids have already enjoyed it for hours! Here are a few things to keep in mind with this set: -Picasso Tiles are compatible with Magnatiles, so not only can you use Magnatiles to enhance the build, but your kids can then use the Picasso Tiles included in this set to enhance other magnetic tile building. -Only the magnetic tiles (square pieces with the round holes that connect to the marble track pieces) are magnetic. The marble track pieces--straight track/tube (long & short), turn or slide pieces, etc. are not magnetic, but snap into the magnetic tiles. This is fine from a building perspective, but definitely something to be aware of. -Because of the snapping/clicking way in which the magnetic tiles and marble track pieces connect, I would be careful using this set with the preschool set, as they could not only shorten the life of the pieces by pulling them apart too forcefully, but also would get frustrated more easily while building, because it will be harder for them to connect the pieces. If you plan to play alongside your preschooler, this would work just fine, but don't expect it to be an independent play option for that age group. My 7 & 10 year-old can easily build on their own; I would expect most 6 year-olds to handle it well too. -It is most fun if you already have some Magnatiles or Picasso tiles on hand, as your kids will be able to get more creative in their designs & the design will be more sturdy (less frustration!). My kids have not yet attempted to use a standard marble but I don't know why they wouldn't work. I would imagine the larger ball is less of a chocking hazard, but I don't have little ones around the house anymore. Overall a super fun set for the elementary age group & 4-5 year olds with assistance (middle schoolers will likely join the fun at some point, but probably won't stick with it for too long). I like that the marble track pieces allow for an open-face track or tubes when two identical pieces are used together--my kids like to do a mix of both. Stabilizer bases and extra magnetic tiles will definitely increase the fun and design possibilities and your kids will have tons of fun while learning.

The best toy ever...for kids and parents! We have soo much fun playing with these. This is the second set I have bought and now we can make a really big marble run and it's so fun to have so many pieces!

Our grandkids were obsessed with these when we brought them over. I literally sat on the floor for 3 hours. We never get tired of playing and building. Such a good amount for the money, we had to get another one so we could go bigger! Teaches them design and how to be clever building with what they have.

I want to start by saying I was ecstatic to buy this because I imagined it being so great.. I loved the idea of it being an additional set to go with their OG Picasso tiles and I loved the idea of a large version marble run for toddlers. I was very disappointed in what i received though. I love the concept of it. Connects with magnetic tiles (I already have the Picasso brand tiles so I was expecting the same quality) realistically when people said the pieces were thin in other reviews I still expected it to be maybe 1/2 the thickness of the OG tiles.. to my surprise they were about 1/10th the thickness if that. So thin that one arrived broken so I’ll have to return it. I still tried to make due with the broken piece and try to build something but honestly it doesn’t feel like i received enough to even do much with.. I will look at other reviewers photos and try to recreate something similar.. but with what I tried to create it was just a frustrating experience for me and my kids. Anytime you have to change up a spot because the clips are very secure and multiple tubes clipped to one tile it would knock the whole tower down when I was gently trying to pull it apart in one spot. The clips I imagined were very different than the actual clips which maybe I’ll patent the idea and make my own because as I said I love the concept but execution isn’t there and I also love the concept of large marble run as it’s better for toddlers but this isn’t better for toddlers due to the fragility of it and the difficulties of putting it together and taking it apart.. I might try one more time to see if I can get it to work better but my kids didn’t have fun it was just frustrating and eventually I asked them to play with something else so I could finish building something but i still was unable to complete due to my baby waking up from her nap. I have a 4 yo and a 3 yo for reference and neighbor kids a 5 yo and 8yo for reference were all so excited for this and it was a flop.. my baby is 1 which I wouldn’t have been able to get it together at all if she were awake but just not enough pieces to even be worth it I felt for the price. Also if I were to even keep these I would need to keep up away from the OG tiles as free range with kids would immediately break these.. one accidental step or just putting them in the bin with the weight of real tiles would break in half. I mean one already broke just from deliver or packaging so extremely thin
