Q: Is there any plastic instide the kettle that comes into contact with the water?

No. All plastic is on the lid covering and outside.

Q: Is the keep warm feature supposed to turn off any time you pour or take it off of the base?

Mine does. It also beeps every time you put it back down. Mine also stopped working correctly after having it for only a short amount of time. I have to move the kettle around on the base to get it to make a connection and start working. I have contacted the manufacturer, and they will not replace/refund. We didn’t start using it right away after purchasing it. But it started messing up within a moth of beginning use.
