Question 1

Warning indicates to not attach while the battery is still attached to vehicle. Is anyone using this product while battery is in the vehicle. harm?

As instructed by Mroinge, I disconnected my battery from my car (in storage in my car port) then used this product for 4 months, reconnecting the battery and disconnecting this device every week and starting my car. All went well until I put the car back into service.......issues with the car's computer system. Eventually scrapped the car, only partially for this set of issues. Just bought a more modern car, my mechanic told me to scrap this MBC010 immediately and use a "battery tender" and to never disconnect the battery from the car. So.....this product seems to be entirely misleading in its representation and application. Beware, beware......

Question 2

the red light keeps flashing. If I wiggle the alligator clamps, the red light will stop flashing but in few minutes, flashing occurs again.

Accepted Answer

According to instructions a flashing red light means it is not charging. I would make sure you have clean battery terminals or check it on another battery you know is good, if it still flashes red it could be a defective charger. Mine only flashes red when it is not hooked up to a battery.

What is the voltage output?

The voltage output varies depending upon where the charger is in its charge cycle and the state of charge of the battery.  The maximum voltage I observed was about 14.2 during the charge and about 13.0 during float /maintain.  So this charger should be good for use on AGM batteries, which should not be charged at more than 14.5 v.

Can this charge a battery from zero volts? (A good one that was discharged by say leaving interior light on or something.)

Hi. I can attest that this charger will NOT start charging a fully discharged 12V lead acid battery. I went away for two months and left my 12V battery disconnected from this charger but with a slow drain on my battery. When I returned, my battery was at zero volts, so I reattached this unit to bring it up. It continually flashed red for a full 12 hours and my battery remained at zero. So I connected a 5A booster for under an hour and then my volts increased to just over 7V. I reattached this unit and bingo! The battery has now maintained over 13V. This has been over four months now, and the green light is now on. I have learnt that this unit requires a small feedback voltage from the battery to function. 
It is a great product. Have had it now over two years and performs very well. I highly recommend as a trickle conditioner/charger.
