Great mic

don't waste your time! Unless it's on Amazon.
Luckily Amazon is great with returns. Unfortunately, this mic was incredibly cheap feeling along with the cables and power-supply as well as switches. The sound was mediocre and when compared to an AKG P120 (a 99$ mic) this mic falls short only offering a little more bass. The sound detail is poor and it's overall sensitivity is much lower than expected. Sounds like a muddy/plastery mess. This mic is like when you go furniture shopping and they have fake appliances, it sure looks like a TV(high quality tube Mic) but as soon as you try to push a button, you realize you're staring at a husk of technology. Kind of like MXL new that there is a demand for that vintage tube clarity, so they somehow glued a light bulb inside a microphone so they could upsell the 990.

Creamy sounding my favorite mic to date.
I needed a mic upgrade and this seems to have fit the bill with features you only get with $3700 and up. It has all the same stuff: and a tube circuit which is quiet, a transformer, a power supply breakout box with a special 7 pin xlr cable. Bass roll off and phase switch , polar patterns continuously variable from cardioid to omni to figure 8. nice creamy pro sound with my Joe Meek Twin Q. I found I could simply turn off the EQ circuits in my pre. The sound is kinda pre EQed which I love of course . And just delicious sound it is. Looking forward to tracking with it on my own projects and outside projects too. Super chocolatey smooth. It has a whole different character compared to a FET Mic. For one thing it took a full minute or two to warm up. That is no issue at all. I was not quite prepared for that though, I forgot about that part. Sooo coool. One con is that in Hawaii with super high humidity I'll have to keep it put to bed with desiccants in its nice flight case. The other is that I had to buy a heavy duty studio mic stand to handle this blue beast. It will all be worth it once that stand shows up. Cant take the risk of it falling over. This is a sensitive instrument and the tube only is good for so many hours of use. Should not be hard to change. Thus far oh yea thumbs up!! great move getting the mxl revelation ii.
