Best to cover these up in the sun, as the plastic will degrade over one season.
I use remnants of old carpet and trim to size to cover the watering ring. from the sun, as it will degrade the plastic. A few old bricks over the carpet keep the Oklahoma wind from "sweeping the ring down the plains." I learned this the hard way. The ring that I failed to do all this is somewhere out in my neighbors 80 acre pasture. Otherwise, I love these watering rings for being able to deeply water young trees that are too far from water hydrants to water frequently. I did make a PVC pipe gadget that snaps onto my longest gardenhose so I can stand up straight while my gadget fills the watering ring.

Fill hole could be changed
I really like that the cap on the fill hole is attached and screws on. Would have been nice if the hole was slightly larger to accommodate a hose. Would make it easier to fill.

Water intake port
If the water intake port was larger that would be great

Thick quality great invention
So I would give this five stars but only one flaw... the hole where you put the hose should be a little bit bigger. It’s pretty much the same size as the hole so it either ends up getting stuck in the hole of the bag where I have to tug and tug to get it out or it won’t go in. Aside from that what a GREAT invention! Plus the product is thick and I’m not worried about the rocks in my yard puncturing it. Definitely quality.

Water drains too fast
I think it is a good idea, but there was not any paperwork with this. There was no controlling the amount of water that is released from this device. I set it up one morning after receiving it on a new tree plant, I filled it up after wrapping it around the tree and when I checked on it later that afternoon it was almost empty! I thought I read somewhere that is would go a week without refilling, not so. I keep a lot of 1/4 inch tubing and nozzles around for my misting system that I have set up in my garden, I took a couple of them and about 4" of tubing then put a mister nozzle on each end which I was able to adjust the flow from both outlets. So far it is working good. Maybe I can send some pictures to show what I did.

we love ours
These are easy to slow water around our newly planted trees. We bought a couple 2 years ago for some trees and they worked so well that we have just purchased 8 more for our newly planted fruit trees. We use them in conjunction with a rigid plastic edging. We place the edging around the bladder and run the spikes hold the edging through the stability holes/tabs on the bladder. This 1)Keeps it in place when it is windy. 2)Protects it from the mower's weedeater. This does just what it says it does. Fill it with water - a hose will be needed for this, cap, and leave it. The water seeps slowing into the soil around the plant allowing for a deep watering. There are two small nozzle type attachments on the underside from which the water drips.

Not slow release
I wouldn't actually consider these slow release. These bags should take two days to empty, however they release all the water in a matter of hours. I would buy them again, though, because it's easier to take a few minutes and fill them up than it is to put the hose on the trees and have to time it. Also, I noticed when you just run the hose it seems like you loose most of the water and with the tree bags it seems to actually absorb into the ground better. Worth the money I think.

Don’t buy anything else.
Don’t buy any other bag. They work great and last much longer than the green zip up type. Additionally they hold up better when weed trimming around them with no fear a ripping a gaping hole I. The side like the green ones.
