Shoe Goo Repair Adhesive for Fixing Worn Shoes or Boots, Clear, 3.7 Ounce (109.4mL), 10 Snip Tip Applicator Tips and Pixiss Spreader Tools Set

This is a super product. My current project is building up the sole heels on an expensive pair of loafers. As the sole is a rubber the heels wore down. I built them back up to the level they were at, perfect repair. Two comments. First, some reviewers, especially on the videos complained the screw on adaptors were to large and just slipped onto the thread. It is true that they will slip over BUT THEN WHEN ALL THE WAY DOWN THEY WILL ENGAGE. The users just didn’t go far enough. second, They complained it was too thick to go through the tube. True if you are using a large stream, the better way is to just skip the nozzle, dump a wad out of the tube and the use the plastic spreaders to pick up what you need to apply. Works much better this way

I bought this to repair my golf shoes. The uppers were still in great condition but the sole had separated in places on both shoes. I used the shoe goo to reattach the sole to the uppers. It worked for a while but separated again (around the toe area). I used the shoe goo again (it was still usable since it comes with a lid for the spout) and I reattached the sole where it was loose. I have been wearing the shoes for several months and they are still attached. As you might imagine, these shoes take a bit of a beating on the course. One word of caution, when the shoe goo dries, you can see it clearly. Try to prevent excess from getting on the exterior of the shoes, because it is difficult to remove.

I have a pair of Frye leather sneakers that were fairly expensive, but had some issues with the rubber on the bumpers around the outside of the shoe. In some locations there was some separation, in other locations the top rim of the bumper had cracks. I purchased the black shoe go to repair these issues and went of the plastic tools to help with the process. The plastic tools are okay not great, you could probably do about as well with a disposable plastic utensil (picnic knife.) However, the extra applicator tubes are a must, they are pretty much a one shot item unless you want to spend a lot of time cleaning them. The Shoe Goo itself is a winner, It can be put in cracks, separated areas, etc. and will cure to a solid. If you get any roughness on the surface, you can carefully use a very fine grit sandpaper to smooth it out and if need be put a thin coat over the top. It is workable for a short time after application, but you need to be quick if you want a smooth result.

When part of the heels and soles on my 18-month-old Merrell Chameleons wore through, there was only one product I'd ever heard of that consumers could use to rebuild: Shoe Goo. My father used it in the early 70s when he started running marathons. I didn't want to throw out or recycle my Merrells because the rest of the heels and soles and the uppers were in great shape. A quick AI search and Shoe Goo is about the only product out there. I'd definitely recommend layering SG and letting it cure, as the directions advise. My father says it keeps the SG adhered to the sole or heel without falling out in one big chunk. (He found that out the hard way!)

NOTE: This review is NOT of any PART of this set, but of the SET AS A WHOLE. All of the individual components of the set are fine. Shoe Goo is a wonderful (if messy - see later) product. The tips are perfectly normal screw-on applicator tips. The knives are fine plastic paint/putty knives. But these pieces are just are just assembled and where never meant to work together. Therein lies the problem. For those who have worked with Shoe Goo, you know that it can be very messy and difficult to work with. When I saw this set, I thought that perhaps the persuasion tips and the knives might make applying it and spreading it around easier. Shoe Goo is thick, viscous, and VERY sticky. So it took a lot of force to squeeze out of the tip and it makes the spreading knife sticky. In fact, I had to apply so much force to squeeze out the Goo, that the back end of the tube broke open! I was now left with the prospect of trying to finish while the the thick, sticky, viscous Shoe Goo oozes everywhere and sticks to everything. Thankfully, I was able to more or less finish, but had to immediately throw the still partly full tube away as there was now no way close it.

One pair of boots I used this on was too damaged, the other pair I am waiting to see, they are wool winter boots, so too early to wear.

The goo works great used it to repair a pair of 5 finger shoes. The tools are helpful. The pointed caps DO NOT fit the screw top of the goo tube
