What us Chakaholics have been waiting for
I had hoped the Malibu concert was as good as this one. Being from Chicago, I think my sister knew she had to bring it, and she most certainly did. I tend to like her better when she has a cohesive group behind her. Although, she was not the lead in Rufus she played well off of the band with Bobby (bass), or Tony (guitar) and Kevin (keys). They seemed to feed off each other. Rufus was a fantastic band in their own right. They had to be, after all who was the lead singer? I could hear that on this DVD. It's like they rock with the same music tribe. It's seldom that you buy live concerts anymore but this is on the right track to making it a thing again. My funny valentine, I know you; I live you, Everlasting love (my all time fav's) are done extremely well. My funny valentine gives us a groove we loved to listen to by Lake Michigan in Chicago. ..'Know you' was a bar-b-que favorite, among others, while 'everlasting' was an anytime thing and it's done better than I'd heard since seeing Rufus in the 70's. I realize Chaka is not for everyone but real Chakaholics won't be disappointed. We get to hear some of the songs we felt deserved better recognition because much of the music in these songs stand on their own merit. Like "At midnight" slamming, "Night in Tunisia" or "Tell me something good". Her band is some skilled brothers and the sisters sanging background seemed to be coached by Chaka herself. My only minor let down is that there aren't any of chaka's new material that I think would have played well like, "Back in the day" about growing up in Chi-town, "Shining star" a Chicago fav by Earth wind and fire that she remade for EWF tribute CD."Like Sugar", and "Hello happiness" from her new album were also missing. Other than not hearing Chaka sing new material I love it. Anyone who likes Chaka Khan, even a little bit will be pleasantly surprised I think at how much they will revere her Chicago homecoming.

Chaka Kahn is as sterling as ever!
Nobody does it like Chaka! Her talent is unmistakable. Nobody today has the range, power and been known worldwide for as many decades because of her siren-style instrument (and still sounds better than most current artists!). You recognize her singular style and talent instantly. “I Know You, I Live You” is always the song that makes me feel my head will explode from nostalgia and pure joy. And the hits keep on coming with “Sweet Thing, Hollywood, and so many more.” This is Chaka at her ultimate best, since that’s the only way she does it these days. Having witnessed her prowess in person, being able to add Homecoming to my collection is a long time coming. I know I will thoroughly enjoy this addition over and over again. I mean, seriously, how could you not?

I am a Chaka fan, and I have seen her numerous times over the years at live concerts, and I have several of her DVD concerts, but I have NEVER seen or heard her better!!! This concert was shot in native 4K, and it looks incredible on my 70" 4K screen!! She looks better than ever, and her voice is at its finest level and clarity! This is definitely one of the favorites in my overall video collection! BRAVO!!

This concert, besides containing some great songs, is very well engineered. Great video, and great audio. Well worth adding to any collection.
