Omix-Ada 17716.15 Accelerator Cable

I broke the plastic tabs on the throttle body on my 92 xj. I needed a replacement and the dealer wanted over 200$! I thought about putting that 200 towards a junked xj for parts, when i saw this on amazon. It fit well and works well too. I did have trouble putting it through the firewall to reach the pedal but i got it in eventually. Best to put the throttle body side on first, then the pedal side. The accelerator pedal does seem stiffer than the previous 22 yr old one.**** Update!!! I removed two stars from my original review. I just wanted to update my dealings with this cable. Although this cable hasn't "quite" on me yet, I do not like the stiff feeling I get from it. I readjusted the cable, and it actually helped for a week or so, but then it went back to being stiff. Although the throttle doesn't stick, I do think there is too much friction inside of the plastic sleeve against the metal cable. Something will fail eventually. I am on the lookout for a new one but for the time being, this thing will have to do.

Do not purchase this cable. It lacks the inner liner over the braided throttle cable. As the previous poster stated it is stiffer than the OEM cable and it did not go through the firewall very well, the connectors are over size. We actually had to file a bit of the firewall and throttle bracket openings to get it to fit.( I know that was my first clue not to use this thing ). The stiffness in the cable is drag and there is so much drag that the throttle hangs open momentarily when you let off the gas. I felt this was a potentially dangeroussituation. I ended up going to the the local pick and pull and removed a cable from a 98 Cherokee it works very well. An extra long pair of needle nose pliers with a curved end will be your friend here. Your life and safety depends on this cable operating properly while you are driving in traffic go with the factory equipment either new or used, don't gamble on this thing.

It was a very easy installation. I don't understand issues others have had. It is plastic so maybe cold weather makes the plastic brittle who knows. Took me 10 minutes figure it out and get it done on a 92 cherokee. Don't over think it and take your time and it won't break. If it does send it back, you bought it from Amazon.
