Simple Instructions and Superb Recipes from a Winemaking Legend With local breweries and wineries popping up everywhere, learning how to make wine is on everyoneโs โto doโ list. Utilize the guidance of home-winemaking legend Jack B. Keller, Jr. In the 1990s, Jack started one of the first (if not the first) wine blogs on the internet. His expertise, along with that of wine chemistry guru Daniel Pambianchi, is shared with you in Home Winemaking . It takes a fun, practical, step-by-step approach to making your own wine. The book begins with an introduction to winemaking, including basic principles, equipment needed, and exactly what to do. After the fundamentals are covered, youโre given a variety of tested, proven, delicious recipes. More than just grape wines, youโll learn how to make wine out of everything from juices and concentrates to foraged ingredients such as berries and roots. There are even recipes that utilize dandelions and other unexpected ingredients. With 65 options, you can expand your winemaking season indefinitely! Jackโs simple approach to the subject is perfect for beginners, but winemakers of every skill level will appreciate the wealth of information. So get this essential winemaking book, and get started. Youโll be sipping to your success in no time. Review: Excellent guide to becoming a wine maker - Jack Keller leads you through the process of combining chemistry and tasting to teach you to be a wine maker, not just a recipe follower. There are recipes in the book that will lead to fine wines. But more importantly in my opinion, this book will lead you to making your own recipes. I have a small library of wine making books and this one is now my front and center "go to" book. I have used advice on Jack Keller's web page for years and was so thrilled to see his book coming out. The book is thorough, perfectly organized, with clear and engaging writing. If you are a home wine maker or thinking about trying, and you consider the purpose to be to make your own individualized and creative wines, this book will be of tremendous value. Review: A contribution to winemakers everywhere. - I have made some of Jack's wine from his blog. They are very good! This book is more than just his recipes. It's his contribution to the wine makers everywhere. I am so grateful that he has taken the time to share his wisdom before his passing. And the patience of his family and friends through the years. For it is with their love and support we are able to benefit from his work for generations to come. To Jack and his family, thank you for the sacrifice of the most precious time you had with him before his passing.

Great information, well written.
This is a great book full of information with some of Jack's recipes. I wish it would have included if he won 1st place or BOS for each recipe where applicable.

A great place to start learning about making wine.
A clearly written book by someone who remembers how it felt to be new at a hobby. The first pages set the tone for the whole book...you can make wine (ferment) almost anything to make wine. I learned about Jack Keller from his wine web pages years ago. It was my go to when I needed to understand something about wine making. Now that Jack is no longer with us, I am so glad this book came out with his wisdom and common sense approach for making wine. I highly recommended this book to all my fellow wine makers older and younger. It is so clear to read and it doesn't 'talk down' to you. It is a book I would recommend to all winemaker of any experience - newbie or old-hand. The book gave me information that filled in those empty corners of my current knowledge.

Great book for beginners!
Great book for beginners! And written with such a personable touch as if he was in your kitchen with you!! I love Jackโs stories which usually tell you how he discovered some technique or other that might help you to avoid some mistakes or perfect that next batch of wine. Very detailed but sometimes you need details. Overall, delightful to read!

An interesting approach if a little random.
Seems a decent enough book and I love the anecdotes. Note that the author refers to US gallons throughout, which are 20% less than those that we used in UK, Astralia NZ etc.
