A very good Cardboard based head mount for VR applications
A very good Cardboard based head mount for VR applications. The phone is secure in the holder, but the device barely fits my Note 4. The way the device holds the phone pushes on the side power button and volume controls. However, the HMD came with additional pieces of foam to assist in making a custom fit. With the custom foam I was able to make the device fit the phone. The lenses of the HMD are much better quality than a standard Cardboard HMD and offer an Inter Papillary Distance (IPD) adjustment. This make sit much easier to find the sweet spot for a more comfortable viewing experience. The front cover of the device comes off and offers a bit better cooling when the phone gets hot. It also allows the camera of the phone to see forward, if the program needs the camera. There is enough room through the sides of the HMD for USB cables to be plugged in so the device can be used while plugged in (charging) or tethered to the PC for use as a second display. All in all a fine piece of Kit and I would strongly recommend it for anyone looking yo get into VR without the high price of a more involved system.

Poor picture and quality.
This is yet another example, of you get what you pay for. Apparently the exact design of this unit is on the Internet under many different names. But the design is identical. That means they are not making these under controlled environments but must be in a factory mill environment. Shooting these out as fast as they can at a very low price thinking most people won't return them. The overall design is flawed for the phone it's supposed to work with, this design seems to be exactly the same no matter what phone they say it is for. They are simply putting a different phone name and still selling it to you saying it's compatible when it is not. The six-year clamps that hold the phone in place pushed directly onto the phone power button. Any kind of upward jolt and the phone will go into the main menu to restart or shutdown the phone. Also the volume control can be hit as well by these clamps. A simple design adjustment would've made these work much better. These do not display 720 P or 1080 P. The quality is much lower. And the materials made for the lenses are cheap plastic and are not polished at all. The adjustments for the vision do not do anything to adjust for better picture. The feel is grinding, and not smooth to adjust. While they are comfortable, and are easy to use they are not reliable to use under VR use do the that that they do not meet any industry standards in 2018.Pros:priceappearanceCons:cheap plasticgrinding adjustmentslenses that do not adjust properlydefective clamps designed for the specific phone they say fits. You can not wear glasses with them, so the fact these do not adjust makes them useless to anyone that does not have 20/20 Many online retailers, including Amazon have these same models at varying prices anywhere from nine dollars on up to $45 and is the exact same unit. it should be noted many auction houses online that are well known are selling these for the same price and they are identical but they have a different name on them so please check thoroughly to make sure you're purchasing a better unit needs. I hate to be harsh but this is basically a piece of junk. and they are trying to sell as many as they can knowing they are not of quality that is why they were so inexpensive. I should know going in that buying something this inexpensive would not work. However this technology has been around for about eight years, and I have seen prices drop significantly. So my opinion was in trying these was prices have dropped so much and it's only made from plastic perhaps these are decent but they are not look else where as these are not a great unit to try or experiment with their failed on every level I would be required to use them

These are so much fun. Simply insert your smart phone
These are so much fun. Simply insert your smart phone, play a VR video and you are instantly immersed into the video. Full 360 degree views of whatever it is you are watching. My husband and son love this headset and how easy it is to use, and we were so amazed by how well it works that we bought another set as a Christmas gift for my son-in-law. This headset does not include earbuds and is not set to transmit sound. The sound comes through your smart phone or headphones that you plug into your phone.

Doesn't work that well. Splurge on a good one.
Doesn't work great. It is pretty much just a plastic headset that doesn't hold the phone well and doesn't offer much of a clear picture. You're better off splurging on a galaxy gear or Google's headset if you really want to do phone VR. I bought Google's shortly after this for a sale price and it works much much better. The remote makes all the difference.

Good VR set for little money
It's quite comfortable to wear and it does have a pretty good build quality, better than expected for the price. The VR experience is almost as good as the Samsung VR, and even the PlayStation VR, which I've had the chance to preview. It fits the iPhone 6s Plus without a case decently, it is a little hard to get it in and out, the clamps also tend to press the power and volume buttons. Overall, it's good for the price for people that just want to try out the VR world (which is grossly overrated if you ask me).

Better than Gear VR
I appreciate all the adjustments available on the Shinecon to make the viewing comfortable. Better than Gear VR. I got the Gear VR to go with my Galaxy S8+ to basically watch movies. With Gear VR, I could focus...that's it. The end result was video that was inferior to VHS. VR on any goggles, has a long way to go, but the Shinecon device, paired with a controller is a good solid start

Made of decent quality and had some good ideas but without an external button it is mostly useless. Almost all VR related items require the button and a lot of them won't work with an external bluetooth controller.

Poor FOV and Clamping
The FOV (field of View) for this headset is bluntly put poor. Feels more like staring at a screen than an immersive experience. Additionally, despite my phone being at the upper limit in terms of size (Nexus 6P), the clamps do not hold it level and it is actually hard retract the springs. Ultimately this all leads to drifting (visuals moving on their own).Cannot recommend unfortunately. That aside, the build quality is impressive however, especially for the price.

Journey to another world...
I've been lucky enough to try out both the Oculus DK1 and DK2. DK1 suffered from the screen door effect, it was less evident in the DK2 but it was still there. As a result I'd put off buying a VR Cardboard style viewer because I thought they would suffer from the same issue - well imagine my amazement when despite the narrower FOV I cannot see a single ounce of SDE using my Sony Xperia Z3+ on this.As soon as it arrived I put it on. It is very comfortable and fully adjustable to allow your eyes to focus. The faux leather foam padding is a nice touch and offers comfort I wasn't expecting. Apps are really easy to find on the Android Play store and surprisingly a great number of them are totally free. Most allow you certain upgrades for additional payment but you'll get the experience from the free version.Recommended apps:- Titans of Space (free with a £2 upgrade for voice narration)- Cmoar VR Cinema (£4.99, but worth every penny for the ability to watch 3D movies in your own private cinema)- VRSE offers various cinematic 360 experiences, some of which are mind-blowing and all are entirely free.- 11:57 is a VR horror experience that will push you to the edge- Insidious 3 Journey to the Further is also a good seated VR experienceA key message to anyone buying one of these items - DEMO IT TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. I've been describing VR to people since the Oculus DK1 came around but showing people really blows them away. It will be the key to making VR the next big thing and not the next big fad.

Fine to experiment with but let down by design shortcomings
First thing's first - I PAID FULL PRICE FOR THESE (£25.99). I received no discount and so you can trust this as an honest review rather than a bought one (if you scan through other reviews you'll see what I mean).OK so I bought these as I didn't want to try assembling from cardboard and thought they looked good. Bottom line is they're OK, but not great due to the points I'll raise below - there are some fairly significant design flaws that will stop these being a 5 star rating.Pro'sComfortable and comes with strapsLook like a quality bit of kitAdjustable focal lengthGood clear lensesConsNo way to click without a remote. I have an iphone 6, there is no nfc or way of selecting in the app without opening the front of the machine. A serious flaw and one that means you'll never be on this for long.Frequent opening of the front means the silver around the front of the case is starting to come away - this will break soonLight does get in as other reviewers have noted from the bottomConclusionBasically this is fine for an experiment but the shortcomings above are critical and stop it being as good as it could be and means they'll be gathering dust soon

Good quality comfortable headset. One issue though: Buy it with a remote!
The Good:Nice build quality on the outer unit with dials for adjusting screen distance and how far apart the lenses are.Looks pretty cool, though you're never *not* going to look like a geek wearing one.Comfortable leather cushion around the eyes and head strap. There are slots at the side allowing headphone cables to be connected to your phone. The Okay:The phone holder mechanism inside the headset feels a little janky. My Galaxy Note 3 (5.7" screen) just about fits, but it's very tight. I don't think it'll fit a larger phone. I've seen guides on YouTube where people remove the holder mechanism and put larger phones inside, so it is at least possible. The Bad:I had no way of interacting with my phone once it was *in* the headset. Doh. Had to buy a remote. Without one, you're limited to videos and apps that don't require any form of physical interaction with your screen.

Put a magnetic switch on it guys!
This is a great headset, but I have no idea why they did not put a magnetic switch on it. You have to DIY using a paperclip or a small screw driver to alter the magnetic field to trigger the switch when using Google Cardboard apps.Other than that it a solid headset, comfortable and the lens is good. It got lateral and vertical adjustment and the front comes off for camera usage.Put a magnetic switch on it guys!

Bit of a waste
If you've got money to spare get one to see what the fuss is about don't spend any more than this for one not that good plus you really need a Bluetooth remote control to play some of the games.
