Faithfully Feminist: Jewish, Christian, and Muslim Feminists on Why We Stay (I SPEAK FOR MYSELF, 6) Paperback – September 8, 2015

This book was everything that I had hoped it would be. Besides my own faith journey and accompanying struggles, I have daughters who also struggle with faith and feminism. It was helpful to read about struggles of women from various faith communities, as their journeys echoed my own, and their stories were uplifting and applicable. For anyone who would like a broader perspective of the faith journeys that many women have taken, this is a great read, and will give you space to consider your own feelings and ideas; a luxury that women are not always provided.

A wonderful compilation of the journey between one's religion and one's sense of self, from a diverse group of strong women! I appreciated how the authors realized, sometimes through a lot of struggling, that religion was an integral part of their identity, something that they could not ignore. At the same time, I respected how they did not give up on their feminist ideals. All of the authors seem to come to a place of peace, where being feminist and being religious could coexist. An important read!

I've given my full endorsement to this outstanding book (I had the opportunity to review an advance copy) and I will be using it in my Women and Religion course at Cal State Northridge this semester. It is an excellent collection in which women share about their feminist engagement with their religious tradition. Every story is unique, insightful, and full of wisdom. I'm excited to see how the students will respond - I'll report on that soon!

Using book in one of my classes

Good compilation, easy read. I was hoping for something with a little more depth.

Excellent resource for feminists trying to understand each other - those within and without religion.
