What do we do with the white squares that came with it ?

The white square that comes with the Gopro max case is an anti-fog sticker. When installing the MAX camera, you need to insert the anti-fog sticker into the gap of the waterproof case. It can effectively prevent the MAX camera from fogging up in the waterproof case due to heat.

Isn't the Gopro Max already Waterproof?

The GoPro Max is waterproof up to 5 meters or 16 feet. Anything beyond that, you would want a protective case for.
