Effective at cleaning (or just to give a good scratch). Easy to clean. Drops a star for being a wee bit flimsier than it needs to be for a product that's designed to last longer than a standard disposable cotton bud.

So, like a lot of people, I saw this and wondered how that could be hygienic. But, you know, I love my reusable cotton pads for cleaning my face and I get a bit extra happy know I'm not helping fill a landfill. So, you know, I thought it was worth a try. It is better than the cotton swabs. Now, I know people say not to put them in your ears because it can damage them, but a lot of people ignore that and I am one. This review is based on putting it in your ear. So, the first thing I'll mention is the bud area. It has little bumps on it that help get more wax than the cotton ones. My ears have been less itchy since using this, and I believe that that is down to the material of the buds as regular ones tend to dry my ear out, which doesn't happen with this. I can apply just a liiiittle too mulch pressure to the earbud trying to make sure I can reach the top of the ear canal too. The stick on this is flexible enough that I have not yet managed to create the curve in it that usually ensues when using a regular swab like this. And it is SO easy to clean. Just run the buds under hot water and you can see the wax disappear and not stick. I then take a pinch of soap and rub it over just to make extra sure. Then a rinse and you're done. The protective case is also really good. It has a mini mount to put it on inside for it, and the case has a swivel lid so you'll never lose it. If you drop to knock it over, the bud doesn't call out, unlike a box of the cotton ones. And we all know that most of us will pick them off the floor and shove them back in the box (As long as it's relatively clean) and then probably use them later. So again, more hygienic depending on your habits. Anyway, I do really recommend this. I feel like I can use it for years if I treat it right, you create less waste, you get a little pride in such a tin, simple thing. Until it becomes commonplace like it should.

I so wanted this to work, however the tips are far more rigid than I expected and don’t seem to pick up wax. I tried softening them in hot water first which felt better but still did not make my ears feel clean. Stopped using as I did not want to risk pushing wax deeper into my canal. The other thing is that the case is frustratingly tricky to open. This could be amazing, especially for travelling, but Mark 2 required.

Works well for a good clean , very satisfying item.

I'm happy enough with my cotton bud

I have no idea how this ear bud got so many 4 and 5* reviews, it literally doesn't even go in my ear canal, and I don't have abnormally small ears (I'm 6'5" with proportionate orifices in my head). Being a hygiene product, it would probably be irresponsible to return it.
