Thats a lot of..... Data!
The Seagate 16TB hard drive is like the black hole of storage – it just keeps gobbling up files with no end in sight. I named mine "The Data Abyss," and now I'm convinced it's secretly plotting to store the entire internet. If it ever goes missing, I'll have to report it as a potential digital hoarder!

Dying on Arrival
The drive I was sent had sector faults from the get go which rose quickly and had to be returned. In the couple of days I had the drive, it was at least quiet for an enterprise drive and would have been good value for money had it not been defective. Read/Write speeds where pretty good (nearly 300MB/s peak and 180MB/s at its slowest)

So far so good
So far so good, using Synology has ds923+, even if they tested in other devices isn't marked as compatible with this one. However for me its ok. From other comments noises on standby are quiet in my private opinion (have another brand loud and vibrating even just plugin to power) and when right/writing is a bit loud but need to remember it is 16 TB with much use better to find different location than living or bedroom. The warranty on that should be only 2 years instead of 5 according to Seagate(even if it's brand new).

Product listing stated the drive was New. It wasn't.
The drive arrived in a bubble-wrap package with a "New" sticker on it that didn't look legitimate, and made me suspicious it wasn't new.Upon arrival I plugged the drive into a Windows machine. Nothing happened. The drive didn't even appear in Disk Management or Device Manager.I tried another Windows machine using another known-good enclosure, and got the same result - nothing.I then plugged it into a Linux machine, which did acknowledge the drives existence, and revealed that the drive was already formatted to XFS, and the drive was completely filled with files.Almost all of the SMART data for the drive had been wiped, but what SMART data remained clearly showed that the drive was not new, and in fact had already been used for over 10,000 hours. So yeah, the drive was a used drive that they were trying to flog as new.Looking up the drives serial number on SeaGate's website yields the following warranty info:"This product was originally sold as a part of a larger system. Please contact the system manufacturer or your place of purchase for warranty support."So no warranty from SeaGate at all. This also goes a long way to explain why so many reviewers complain of these drives being noisy and such - whoever is selling these probably has a large installation and is getting rid of the worst drives, so they're clearing the SMART data and trying to re-sell them as new, and the bad drives are much more likely to be noisy and clicky.

Great Drive But......Here's The Fix...
Newer Hdd's Sata3.3 have PWDIS (Power Disable Feature), Easily remedied By using a Molex to Sata Splitter off the PSU...Basically if your Sata Power Lead has 5 Cables off it it will use PWDIS in your System,(Pin3) if your Sata Lead has 4 Cables off No PWDIS... It's the third pin of Sata that Utilises this function...Other Fix is 1mm x 4mm Tape Over Pin 3 So No Contact on Sata Cable When Inserted.. However My Older External Sata Usb 3.0. Caddy Recognized the Drive Straight Away again no PWDIS..Confused Me For a Bit when I put it in Media Center (No Power) Not Spinning...After Pulling Hdd,s, Sata Cables, etc... New One on Me...

SCAM - not new drives
SCAM - I've been using 2 of these drives since Feb-24, and one has just died, so went to the Seagate warranty page to be told it's not under warranty - I also need to assume the clock is ticking on the other one.Having looked at the label, the DOM (date of manufacture) is 14AUG21, so looks like the disk was used for around 2 1/2 years before being made to look new and sold as such.

SCAM?? Quiet, fast, huge. They write at 245Mbps RAID1.
Edit - Search this: Seagate's fraudulent hard drives scandal deepensBought two - had to use wife to buy second one due to limit as how other do I create a RAID1??? Pain.NO ISSUES - seem absolutely brand new. Perfect packaging. VERY quiet, fast, huge. They write at 245Mbps.Good value - but I was worried given the 30% bad reviews...

Very loud drive. Otherwise great.
As others have mentioned, this is a very loud drive. It buzzes loudly when idling and it makes a loud whirring sound when it's seeking. I've never known such a loud hard drive having owned many.If you're looking to buy the drive to put it in a nas or similar remote place, then it's a great drive. But do not buy this to put it in a pc or anywhere near where you'll be working/sitting/living: it's too loud.

Produit Seagate Exos X16 16To CMR 7200 RPM Firmware SN03

Fungerar bra i exempelvis Unifi U-NAS Pro
Fungerar som förväntat. Fungerar bra i min U-NAS Pro. Köpte denna då den var mest priseffektiv jämfört med andra.

Gutes Produkt
Hervorragende Festplatten. Benutze 4 Festplatten seit anderthalb Jahren in meinem NAS‑Laufwerk und sie funktionieren problemlos. Klare Kaufempfehlung

Device did not work and 20 EUR costs for the return cost
The hard disk did not work (it was making a strange noise when powered up) and it was never recognized by the PC / MAC. Returning cost (to the US) is > 20 EUR (from Europe).
