Yes, they are safe for use in ovens:) and they can withstand oven heat up to 392 Fahenheit.

Is the granite polished inside? I want to use unpolished granite as a mortar bowl to go with with my wooden pestle

It is NOT polished inside. Must be “cured” by soaking in heavily salted for 48 hours and then scrubbed with a brush before use.

Can this be placed on a glass electric cook top or convection cook top?

Yes. It's not quite as effective as putting it on a gas cooktop where the flames can come up the sides, but it will work.

Where are these made? Country of origin?

They are made of stone but I don't know which country it was made in. It works great!
