Not Complete, But Still Interesting
I am always leery of books that call themselves “complete.” I'm a firm believer that, in this day and age, no book could ever be considered complete on any topic. While this book certainly has a number of interesting facts, I would certainly by no means call it complete. This book is a compendium of facts, as the title suggests. And these are naked facts, so to speak, given plainly and without elaboration. Interestingly, the authors chose to make certain distinctions that I am not sure I would have were I the one who put together this book. Most books that talk about countries define the term rather loosely so that protectorates and territories of other countries—like Guam, Puerto Rico, and Greenland—are included in the book. This one, however, stuck to a strict definition of country so that those places are not included. This alone makes the book incomplete to my mind. As you might imagine, as a straight recitation of facts, the book is a little dry and certainly not one that you would just sit down and read. But it certainly is good if you want to look up certain facts by country or if you have an interest in knowing the biggest lakes (3 of the top 5 in the US), the longest rivers, or the largest cities. The largest section is the one on countries, which gives data like GDP, population, languages, religions, types of land, and more as well as a part of the world map showing the country. Since the authors knew they would not include protectorates and territories in the main list, I think they should have included them for each of the individual countries. One bizarre fact given is that the deepest ocean is the Marianas Trench. Of course, the Marianas Trench is not an ocean! It is, in fact, the deepest part of the Pacific Ocean; the authors should have listed the Pacific Ocean as the deepest one, with a nod to the reason why. If you nerd out on facts like I sometimes can do, you may appreciate this book.I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Fun
Whenever I travel, either along or with family, I like to learn different trivia about where I'm going, as well as the places along the way. I definitely haven't been to all the places talked about here, but I enjoyed learning all the same. Fun facts and stats about places all over the world, and now I want to do some more travelling.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Typo
Some information was wrong. It said that hinduism is the major religion of Iraq which is obviously wrong.

ERRORS
When I looked at European Countries there were many errors in the currency used in some of them. Before the children saw this book, it was burned destroyed in the stove.
