It's beautiful. Nice, heavy wooden board and very pretty bowls. It came with extra stones, and none of the stone were broken.

First off, it's reversible, so you can play a full game on the 19x19 side or a quicker one on the 13x13. Perfect for learning or when you don't have a ton of time. The Shin Kaya wood looks and feels amazing. It's smooth, sturdy, and has this awesome grain that makes each board unique. You can tell this thing is built to last. Just a heads up, you'll need to grab stones and bowls separately. But that's actually kind of cool because you can pick out ones that you really like. If you're looking for a Go board that's both beautiful and functional, definitely check this one out. It's a great way to experience this awesome game!

Well packed (double layer corrugated from YMI inside a larger Amazon box). Came with extras of both black and white stones and none were chipped or cracked. Shin Kaya board was as advertised, no significant blemishes or chips. The bag for the board is felt and fits well. It does not have any handles or straps so if you want to travel with the set I would suggest sourcing another bag at minimum. The board is also very heavy and not really meant to be hauled around (obviously). It's a nice set and I look forward to playing with it.

I ordered this set knowing that it was expensively priced because I decided to get myself a nice set for the holidays. I received a nice set and I'm happy hearing the thunk of the yunzi stones on the shin kaya board - need to wait and see how the wood behaves in the long run but so far it has been a pleasure! When cleaning the stones I realized that there were a dozen or more missing. I know that it doesn't really matter in practice but I would have liked to own a complete set. So, more in hope than expecting a positive response, I emailed customer support about it. They asked if I wanted to return and ask for a refund but I said I was happy to keep the set if it wasn't going to be possible to get only a dozen stones. I thought that was that but, I was pleasantly surprised when they emailed me a couple of weeks later and said that they would ship just the 15 missing stones from their Shanghai warehouse. I think these small details and initiative show a company's commitment to their customers than flashy stuff. I'd be happy to shop with them again - only I hope the prices on some of these higher-end products go back to pre-Covid levels!

The game of Go deserves an elegant environment, and this set provides that at a reasonable cost. The board and pieces both look and feel good, being made from high quality materials and evidencing good craftsmanship. The storage bowls are well crafted, as well. The ability to pack up the gear in durable cases (one for the board, and another for the pieces) is a pleasant bonus. I highly recommend this set.

I have a marked notch on my shin kaya board. It's excellent to to play on, sounds great, stones are pristine, but after a week of playing on it I still can't get over this oddity lol. I've been trying to pretend it gives the board character (or some forced integrity to ignore it/get over it) but I can't. The quality is excellent, but, I really wish it didn't come with this defect in the wood choice.

Very disappointed with the item. Cheaply made. Board is hollow plastic. Returning it.

“Beautiful board” most people comment when they see it. Note, it is not one solid piece of wood. The stones “work” and are cheaper $$ than clamshell and slate. They should off better carrying case for the bowls that give better protection.
