Pelican 1506 TSA Lock for Pelican Cases and Other Luggage and Suitcases (Gray)

I am very pleased with this lock. I've used a plastic Master TSA lock before - the thing was a pain. It was way too easy to accidentally change the combination, and the shackle was too short to easily get through the trunk I was locking. In addition, getting the shackle lined up and re-locked was difficult because of the length of the shackle. This lock, on the other hand, is terrific. Easy to change the combination to what I want, but hard to do so accidentally. Very solid. Easy to latch to my trunk, and easy to lock. As TSA locks go, this in the only one I will consider in the future.

There's a reason you're looking at this lock. It's small, cheap, easy to lock and unlock, easy to change the code (securely, of course), and the TSA won't have to break out the bolt cutters and put you out without a lock for the rest of your trip. The loop is long enough to work on most baggage. The loop is fairly thin, so this won't protect against a determined thief with bolt cutters, but that's not what this lock is meant to guard against. As a defense against opportunistic thieves, this does the trick.

We use several Pelican cases to ship equipment. I had been using Brookstone cable locks, but tried this Pelican brand lock. It costs more than the Brookstone ones, but is very well built. I only consider these locks enought to keep prying eyes and fingers out of the cases during transport, and they are TSA compliant (which means TSA can open them with a key). This lock is also larger and heavier than the Brookstones ones, but I think it is more secure. For cases, I highly recommend the Pelican locks. The cable fits the heavy plastic mounts on the cases, which smaller locks will not. For a cary-on bag, this might be too heavy. Overall, a great product for its intended use. Also, Pelican stands by its products, replacing flashlights and furnishing broken latches on cases. A fine company.

The combination is easy to set and is easy to attach to my Pelican V300 case.

Because of the slightly thicker casing around the lock hole, you can't use a typical luggage lock on most pelican cases. This item does the trick perfectly with the flex cabling that can be fed in the hole. With only 3 digit combo, one could argue that with enough time someone could figure out the code, but considering that it is used for shipping only, that argument could be made for most combo locks. The amount of slack in the cable allows someone to slightly open the case, but when I messed around with it, I was unable to actually pull anything out. If you need to lock your pelican case for shipping, this is a great get!

I ordered a pair of these for a Pelican 1510 Case. I was pleasantly surprised to see how sturdy these are. They have a nice weight to them. Highly recommend. Would buy again.

90 day review - JUNK!! threw out 2 of them. Number wheels for combo are small, hard to read, and very loose - number wheels slip a lot so it is not easy to dial in the code - wheels don't 'click' in to place. Lock itself was fine for 6 trips so far, but did not last for 90 days. Pelican should be ashamed to have their name on these. Master lock sells similar size but much better construction for $10 all day at home depot and lowes - go get them there or find the Master TSA set here on amazon - combo wheels are black and white contrast so they are easy to read, and they click in place to hold the combo and open as designed.

These lock was fine...On just about any case. For a Pelican Case use two. I ship high value cargo in Pelican case international frequently. Not an issue. But with anything using the right product with the right case matters. TSA standards require how it is made and function. Meaning quality lock. Seems to be a lot of fake reviews on Amazon these day. Since I originally submitted the owner of the supplier has personally contacted me and made arrangements for complete satisfaction. I was very impressed that the owner would take his time to review the feedback and take action directly. It does not absolve him of the initial problem but truly shows his willingness to go the extra mile to satisfy his customers. Was not able to access my initial feedback otherwise I would have adjusted it as well
