The Kingdom of the Wind is a big budget historical thriller that captivated audiences and won multiple KBS drama awards in 2008. This is a no nonsense epic (especially when compared to Strongest Chil Woo) featuring beautiful cinematography and score as well as lots of grand battle scenes, conspiracies, political intrigue, and assassination plots. The Kingdom of the Wind is a story about Muhyul, and the third king of Koguryeo who was also called the god of wars. Muhyul is the grandson of Jumong but was born with a supposed curse to kill his parents, siblings, son, and destroy the country. His father, King Yuri, was horrified by this prophecy but couldn’t get himself to kill his own child. So he orders his elder son, Haemyung, to take baby Muhyul outside the palace to live as a commoner who doesn’t know anything about his true identity. Through the course of 36 episodes, Muhyul goes through many trials and tribulations to defy his nefarious fate, and eventually emerges as a powerful king. The Kingdom of the Wind is well acted and directed, and stars Song Il Kuk in the lead role of Muhyul. Incidentally, Song also played the main role in Jumong where he was Muhyul’s grandfather. Review: It's a good continuation of Jumong - It's not as well done as Jumong, but the same actor plays the Grandson of Jumong, and Song Il Gook is great in this series. He was a great Jumong as well. If you like Historical Dramams, you will like this movie. Review: Excellent Period Production and Excellent Poh Kim Edition! - Excellent historical drama production and Poh Kim edition with excellent Mandarin audio which brings all characters live! All characters play their roles very well. Costume designers have great color sense. There were a couple of freezes for a couple of seconds and the Chinese subtitle was missing for about a min in all 8 DVDs together .

Another good historical novel on film
The dvd was another good historical novel, though, with too much fighting scenes, not quite up to the standards of the previous productions.
