My Utmost for His Highest, Updated Edition Kindle Edition

I prefer the original version to this "updated" version. It may be a bit easier for some readers (or listeners) to follow, but certain, often subtle, insights have been "lost in translation." Having said that I still give it 5 stars, because even in its "lesser" form it's still the best devotional I have found. He was a man with an extraordinary grasp of spiritual things. But I do hope that the original version might also find its way into audible form.

I give this book five stars plus! This man of God must have quite the award awaiting him in the Sweet By and By. He will shine like the stars in the galaxy (Dan. 12:3) for all the souls he has won for Christ with his Holy Spirit anointed words. Initially spoken to students in his Bible College ministry school, these words are still redeeming souls and pointing the way to a Godly life via the written page. Oswald Chambers died at the early age of 43 in 1917 due to complications with acute appendicitis. His widow took on the task of transcribing his many sermons and talks over the years from her own shorthand notes into the written word. Of all the books she transcribed and published “My Utmost for His Highest” has been the most successful. This work has never been out of print and has been translated into 39 languages, (Ref. Wikipedia). If you are seeking to know Him better and how to live a God-centered life in your years on this earth, this is the devotional for you. When I get to the end of the year I simply start over again. God inspired words never get stale. There’s always a new revelation awaiting no matter how many times I have read it.

I absolutely love this daily devotional because it’s hard hitting with truth from the word of God. If you are looking for a devotional, that will help you grow spiritually, this is the one.

Love this. Buy it. Changed my life and walk with God. Very honest. Almost harsh. But beautiful and true at the same time.

This is an excellent book. I was glad to find a place where I could get it.

These daily reflections have been the inspiration of life changes that has enabled me to draw closer to God. These messages he brings to me through this series has been valuable in beginning understanding what God has done in my life. This book truly helps. I recommend this to anyone who wants to deepen their faith.

Each daily devotional is the perfect length for proper absorption and application. The economy of words for such powerful and challenging messages is evidence that God inspired it all. Nothing is wasted from started to finish. I highly recommend this to the Christian looking to be challenged in his or her walk of faith.

Beautiful,clear and to the point daily devotional that sparks of so much truth in this current day(2019) even though the 'book' was written in 1917 during WW1 in Egypt.The 'book' is Chambers but was not written as a 'book' by Chambers.Chambers wrote only one book per say,this 'book' was compiled by his widow after his death during the war.The UK soldiers loved his daily talks,notes to them that Chambers widow compiled a 'book' of some of his teachings/devotionals/daily's and made a Great book out of them!

I read this book over and over again, and have done since 2018. I read it after reading the bible first thing in the morning during breakfast. It sets me up for the day, every day. I have studied and read many self help books, but this book far outweighs any other book (apart from the bible). If you want to know God, meet Him in this book, I guarantee, you won't be disappointed.

There is not one person on reading this book can say, 'I cannot be helped.' Oswald Chambers shows us clearly how he has survived awkward situations and experienced God's grace and mercy when he has perhaps got himself into and not able to find his way forward.Also what a blessing this book is when we discover that we are not alone when we have let ourselves down and felt ashamed. The author clearly has a close relationship with God and this is shown through his reading of God's Word. I love the helpful topics and readings should we need further guidance and help.Brilliant!

I have, on many occasions, bought a "daily readings" book with the intention of using it!Praises to God that this book was recommended to me a few months ago!Oswald Chambers challenges us, daily, to turn to Jesus, our Saviour, the Lamb of God - to turn away from the understanding of "the world" and to turn to what appears as "foolishness" to the world. The depth of these readings is like refreshing, living water to the Spirit and it is a wonderful way to begin each day anew - in deep thought and ponderance with the Lord.I could happily spend a week rather than a day with each reading.

A bit hard to understand sometimes, but not surprising as I generally feel the same about things written by preachers pre 19th century, not terrible and you can tell that the writer has a very deep passion for the Kingdom of God, but the way it comes across is mostly a bit hard to connect with
