How do you apply this? I feel like it gets everywhere I dont want it and it make the gun look dirty.

Carefully spray the lube into the dust cover/cap and then use q-tips to put the lube where you want it. As with any spray, wear safety glasses or some type of eye protection and spray gently-you can always spray more! When it dries if there is a light color grey on the tool, wipe it lightly to remove excess product.

Is there a base oil carrier? Or does it evaporate and leave just the moly?

No there isn't an oil carrier. Its exactly as you mention. FYI: 1-stay away from porous things as its real moly and a real pain to clean, 2-shake the can well and often, and 3- its REALLY easy to apply too much to an area (don't "go to town and then wipe off excess" like other lubes)

Yes that's exactly what I use it for works great

what color does this come out as?

It comes out a charcoal color. It can be very messy, so use it sparingly. It is just like moly you use on bullets. If you get it on your firearm, use a cloth with oil on it to remove excess.
