Works perfectly
I’ve tried drugstore sleeves and basic elastic wraps, but the GenuTrain is in a different league. Right out of the box, you can feel the quality – the knit is soft yet firm, and the integrated silicone massage pad sits perfectly around my kneecap. What I love most: it doesn’t slip. Even during light jogging or squats, the non-slip grippers keep it in place. The anatomical fit (left/right specific) makes a real difference – no bunching behind the knee. It provides noticeable compression that reduces my mild patellar tendon soreness without restricting movement. Also breathable enough for all-day wear under jeans. Downsides? The price is steep (around $70–90). And if you have larger thighs, measure carefully – sizing runs snug. The pad can feel a bit bulky at first, but you get used to it. Also, hand-washing is a must; machine washing will wreck it. Overall, worth every penny if you have chronic knee issues or want solid support for sports. Not a miracle cure for serious injuries, but for stability and pain relief during daily activities, it’s excellent.

Extremely helpful with my patella cartilage pain
38yo with knee pain from diminished cartilage due to a fractured patella 15 years ago. My knee pain and discomfort has increased significantly in the last two years, forcing me to re-evaluate what sports I can play. I bought this to help me start Pickleball, which I was uncertain would be possible given how I was feeling. This knee brace has been amazing. I feel SIGNIFICANT pain relief, improved functionality, and decreased soreness afterwords. I have tested the brace by playing without it and even it putting it on around the house when my knee starts to bother. No question this brace is helping a great deal. Additionally notes; size chart worked great. The brace is comfortable, breathes, stays in place and barely slips. Extremely happy with this purchase, highest recommendation for someone with similar pain.

Sturdy knee support
Nice and supportive. Quality is sturdy without feeling bulky or of cheep. It stays in place giving equal compression on the joint and fits comfortably. It is a worthwhile purchase.

Serious Support That Works
After doing a lot of research, I chose this brace to stabilize my knee after a volleyball-related meniscus tear and subsequent surgery, and it has been outstanding. It fits very securely and provides excellent stability, yet it is comfortable once on. When my orthopedist saw it, he actually complimented my choice. I now use it post-surgery and during volleyball, and it keeps my knee stable even with aggressive play and frequent dives. I wear a knee pad over it, which works perfectly. When the meniscus tear was fresh, I also wore it just to get around, and the added stability was immediately noticeable. It does take some effort to pull on, but it is extremely durable and has small hidden grab points that make it easier to get in place. This is a serious, well-designed product that does exactly what it is supposed to do.

Godsend
Like the line Indiana Jones says in Raiders of the Lost Ark,”It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage.” And after 55 very active years incorporating a lot of wear and tear, I’ve put a lot of mileage on my knees. Pro tip: don’t let a large breed, strong dog pull you on leash when you’re walking it downhill. The steeper the slope, the more damage you’ll do to your knees. Learn to walk such dogs properly, using tactical leashes, collars and harnesses such as they use in the military and police K9. Anyway, years of that type malfeasance are just part of my knees’ mileage. I’ve used several Bauerfeind knee supports starting about 9 years ago. These Genutrains I like best. They’re medical grade and can be worn literally all day. They’re so comfortable and provide great support no matter what you’re doing, for both preventative and inflammation amelioration purposes. I like them better than the Bauerfeind sport performance knee supports as those have strips on the upper insides to help keep the supports in place. But in my opinion, because of those, they’re not meant to be worn for more than the duration of a typical sports game as wearing them for too long gave me blisters where those strips are. No such problem with the Genutrains and they stay in place, seamlessly, all day, throughout different sometimes very demanding activities. Absolutely love them. I think they’re great value as in the past I tried other brands and was always dissatisfied.

Excellent Support and Quality – Just One Small Flaw
I’ve been using the Bauerfeind GenuTrain knee brace for a few months now, and overall, I’m very impressed. The build quality is top-notch—it feels durable, well-constructed, and far superior to cheaper braces I’ve tried. The fabric is breathable yet supportive, and the compression it provides has really helped with my knee stability during workouts and long walks. Considering the premium materials and medical-grade support, I actually think the price is fair. It’s an investment, but one that pays off in comfort and function, especially if you’re dealing with chronic knee issues or recovering from an injury. That said, the only drawback I’ve experienced is that it does slip down occasionally, especially during more active movement. For a brace in this price range, I would love to see Bauerfeind come up with a better anti-slip solution—maybe silicone grips or adjustable straps. Still, despite that one issue, I’d absolutely recommend it. It’s one of the best braces I’ve used, and I feel much more confident and supported when I have it on. With a small design tweak, it would be perfect.

One Brace to Bind the Treacherous Knee in the Long Roll
It was the winter of the endless mats in Chicago, when the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym smelled of sweat and old rubber and the faint metallic tang of blood from fresh mat burns, that my left knee first whispered its betrayal. Not with a dramatic snap like a branch breaking under the weight of a fallen orc, but with the slow, insidious ache that comes after too many guard passes, too many knee rides, too many failed escapes from side control when the opponent’s weight settles like the shadow of Barad-dûr itself. Each roll became a quiet war: I would rise from the mat favoring the good leg, the joint swollen and hot as though it had marched the length of the Dead Marshes, and I would limp to the wall while younger men circled like wolves sensing weakness. Then the Bauerfeind GenuTrain arrived, black and blue as the banners of Gondor after a long siege, its knit fabric dense yet yielding, the pad at the patella firm as the stonework of Minas Tirith. I slipped it on before class—size 5C measured true, no gap at the hamstring, no pinch behind the knee—and felt the Omega+ pad cradle the joint like a hand steadying a faltering king. Compression came gentle but certain, not the crude squeeze of lesser sleeves but a targeted embrace that stabilized without strangling, drawing heat away from the inflamed places and lending the knee the quiet strength of mithril beneath mail. On the mats that night I rolled five rounds straight—no hesitation, no favoring, no whispered curses when a partner dropped into knee-on-belly. The brace held fast through butterfly sweeps and single-leg takedowns, through the grinding pressure of mount escapes and the sudden torque of armbars defended from half guard. Pain did not vanish—pain is no stranger to the grappler—but it retreated to a dull murmur, a distant drumbeat rather than the roar that once made me tap early. The pad dispersed the force like a shield raised against an arrow storm; the knit fabric breathed, wicked sweat, and never once slipped or bunched even when the gi grew heavy and slick. I have worn it now through months of consistent training—open mat Saturdays, no-gi Fridays, the brutal Saturday morning sessions where the black belts hunt like Nazgûl on the wing. The brace endures. It does not pill, does not stretch out of shape, does not complain when the knee swells after a hard spar. It simply stands watch, a faithful companion in the long campaign against age and entropy, allowing me to keep rolling, to keep learning, to keep rising from the mat when the body would rather yield. If your knee has begun its quiet rebellion—whether from old injuries, arthritis, or the ceaseless grind of BJJ—take this Bauerfeind GenuTrain. It is not mere elastic and foam; it is covenant between limb and warrior, a brace forged for the battles that never end, the fellowship your joint has hungered for in its hour of need. Ten stars out of five, though the heavens grant fewer. I would wear it into the deepest pits of Mordor and fear no knee-bar. 🦵🧙♂️🛡️🥋

Good, Not Great
Runs small and too light weight to offer enough stability. Bought one of these, beige color, size four. I also have had a size four black one that I purchased about a year and a half ago. Both are the new version, lighter material. Both do the job. The beige material feels slightly different from the black one, a bit lighter and not as stable, although both are the new versions. It doesn't slip, but needs to be tighter and give more stability. I bought both of them slightly larger than what the measurements call for. On my leg, the measurements called for a size 3 or 3C. I have had those sizes in the past and they were too tight. Size four is best for me. They are an improvement over the old versions, which were about 20 percent heavier and perhaps a slightly different material, but both were good. I have a previously injured right knee. I wear these when I go out, but not around the house. They are good walking around shopping, going up and down stairs and the like. Lasts for a couple years if you have a couple of them. I now have one of each color. Doesn't irritate my skin as do some other products and doesn't feel hot. Doesn't slip down my leg. I like the mesh, knit stretch material. It's comfortable. A little pricey. Easily washable. Will probably last about two years. Guaranteed for a year. The gel and other features around the knee cap makes sense. The brace is not going to slow down arthritis, but will supposedly lessen the pain and add stability while walking and putting weight on the knee. I would recommend that for most people to get a half size up, as they seem to run slightly small or tight. They can be worn under pants without bulging. But where I live, I usually wear shorts. The beige color will blend in with your skin color and the other two colors look good with shorts. I don't recommend the beige because it is lighter material than the other two colors, black and titanium, and thus doesn't help as much.

Great support and extremely comfortable
Great support for many different knee problems, very comfortable and you can wear it all day if needed due to the well ventilated fabric. You don’t have to worry about rashes that you can get after extended use of neoprene supports.
