The sound from my laptop is okay but nothing special and, depending on what I am listening to, isn't always loud enough for my old ears. This item performs above expectations for its small size and affordability. It sounds great (no distortion) at either the high or low end of frequencies for watching movies/video clips or listening to music on a computer. I am not a hard-core audiophile so I am sure there are some folks out there who would be more discerning about the sound quality but I think it sounds quite good (so much better - crisper, clearer and louder) than my laptop speaker. I wouldn't mind if the cord used to plug into the computer was a bit longer, but that is not a big issue for me. As an added bonus, it works with my classic iPod (yes, I know I am a dinosaur). I would really love it if this awesome little speaker came with a neoprene pouch or some other protective storage case to keep it and its associated cords safe and dust free when stored in a computer bag (or anywhere else). It appears to be of good quality, is easy to use, provides amazing sound, and is very affordable. Other than a nice storage pouch/box, what more could you want? Highly recommended.

This is the best wired speaker I have found after a lot of searching. I like it so much that I ordered 2 more when the first one turned out to work really well for me.It's nothing fancy but is still well made, it has an easy to use Volume knob, on/off, switch, and an easy to access USB port. It even has an extra headphone jack port for plugging in other wired external speaker so you can have a chain of speakers. It also has an internal LED light that glows blue to let you know when it's on and when it is charging.The sound quality is decent and good enough for my needs. It doesn't come out too soft or too loud at the minimum and maximum settings like other speakers.The sound quality is not going to make elite audiophiles happy because it's not super premium bass sounds. But if you're just someone who wants an affordable wired speaker that works, this works great.It also comes with a USB charging cable and a headphone extension adapter cord. This extension cord is a huge plus and really nice of the seller to include with the speaker. Because even though the speaker has a headphone jack cord, it's really short. It's so short I'm often afraid of accidentally pulling it out when plugging it into my devices.

This is a nifty little speaker for your phone or tablet, but it does have some limitations. I say four stars because of the limits, where others may say five stars and comment, "Well what did you expect from a racquetball sized speaker?"There are some good upsides to this model. There's a three year warranty. The on-off button has a very positive detent, so you won't have to worry about it accidentally being switched on while in the bag. The primary 3.5mm jack is short, but how long do you need it, however it allows for easy wrap-around storage at the base. The latch detent when closing it up from the expanded mode is pretty strong, so there should not be any problems down the road with being unable to close it up. The combo USB/3.5mm/multi-input charging jack is very nicely designed.For the sound quality, it depends very much on what you are wanting. As a single speaker, you cannot get the volume up to room-size without serious distortion and clipping. Multiple speakers can be daisy-chained to boost the available sound, but I only have the one. For personal listening at a nominal level, the sound is solid, clean, and pretty bassy for a small speaker. The speaker has a volume control, so finding a balance between the device volume setting and the speaker volume setting can eliminate a some of the distortion, but not all of it. I am not sure if the speaker can be over-driven, and I don't want to try, however I can see where over-driving might be some of the failure complaints in the reviews.So, if you want room-size sound, at a loud volume, without distortion...you're going to have to buy something more substantial. If you want an inexpensive way to get personal-size good sound from your device, this is a good choice. Battery life is very good. Charging is as simple as you can get. The padded mesh carry bag is a nice plus.
