Norpro My Favorite Jumbo Porcelain Mugs, Set of 2, White

This is my second purchase of this set of mugs. My other mugs are in storage and I found that I couldn't live without them. This mug has some weight to it. It's quality porcelain. Even if I use it for strong coffee, and don't wash it before my next cup, it hasn't stained. This is great news for coffee purists who like the natural flavor of black coffee. It's also perfect for soups, ice-cream, yogurt and anything you would ordinarily need a bowl for. It would be great for cappuccino or other brewing options with your choice of fancy creamers & sugar. Its handles are comfortable. I find that I reach for this mug multiple times daily for coffee & much more. This is a fantastic multipurpose cup / bowl.

Since I love big, bowl-like mugs, I chose these to make those DIY Paint Sharpie mugs as Christmas gifts. I ordered three sets of these, and the manufacturing was consistent between boxes. They are a nice, clean white color, and were perfect to draw and write on. They turned out great, and the size is perfect. I ended up with an extra, so I made one for myself! When I've used them, I've found them well-balanced and easy to grip-- they have really big handles. I suppose a larger mug could easily be awkward to hold, but I don't find this one to be that way at all. There's something so cozy about making a cup of tea or coffee in a mug like this. For anyone interested in what I did, I used oil-based Sharpies to make designs on the mugs, put them in the oven before heating it, set it to 420º (**see update**), left them there for an hour while checking occasionally that they didn't brown from the heat (they didn't), then turned off the oven and left them in there to cool. Oh, and when I did the designs, I wrote "hand wash only" on the inside as a precaution-- I spent too many hours on them not to! They were very popular Christmas gifts that I was proud of. :) UPDATE: Six months in, the mugs still haven't had their colors wash away, and I've been told that they have been accidentally put in the dishwasher more than a few times. I had some color changing with the original mugs; the red turned maroon, and all the blues turned green. However, I received a tip from a potter that 400º is much too hot for certain colors like sky blue to remain intact, and advised me to bake the mugs at 350º instead. That person was absolutely right, and in the last batch I made, the colors are much more vivid and I had less color changing. So, lesson learned! Keep the temperature down to 350º if color is important. I will update in the future to verify that colors stay put after being baked at this lower temperature.

Love these mugs for my latte/cappuccinos! I use my coffee maker and milk frotherand fill these babies up to the top. I wanted a huge huge mug that's not super heavy. These have some weight to them but not heavy like a soup bowl. I can sip with one or two hands and it fits three coffee pods plus at least a cup of milk. It holds the heat well so I can take my time drinking and if needed can always reheat in the microwave if kids interrupt my drink. So happy with this size. It holds about 2.25 cups which is about 17 oz. Comes in a set of two. It's heavy duty and seems to not chip despite repeated use . Highly recommend. Glad after all that online browsing I decided on these. Great price as well. update: it's one year later (actually more) and I still love these cups! They still look brand new despite my using them every day! They hold heat well especially when i warm them up with some hot water before making my coffee in them. highly recommend! not too heavy, perfect cafe coffee at home! Update: it's 4/2023 and these mugs are still like new! Still highly recommend after 6 years! Wow!

I love these for lattes at home but they keep breaking.

Very sturdy, beautiful, clean, and smooth.

I just wanted mugs that were larger than the standard 8-10 oz for drinking tea ... when I was reading review of other (smaller) mugs everyone was making a big deal about mugs not actually holding 15-16 oz, so I figured I'd get these too. Man am I happy I did! There's noting wrong with the other mugs, but these big bowl-like cups give me a warm-fuzzy feeling! (1) The capacity is actually more than 16 oz. I included pictures to demonstrate how much water they hold. Notice in the picture with water in it that there's 'room in the cup' - I tend to do this so that we don't spill & there's room for milk in your tea or marshmallows in your coca. I then poured the water into a measuring cum - notice it's just under 2 cups (or 16 oz) & there's water on the counter [I don't recommend trying to pour the liquid out of this cup as it likes to spill]. (2) I like the color - they're a solid white color - not tented as far as I can tell. (3) The shape is awesome! Imagine curling up on the couch with a giant cup of cocoa and watching the snow or rain. These are perfect for holding and warming two hands, or snuggling up with a giant cup and a good book (4) Dishwasher & Microwave Safe. And the mug doesn't get overly hot in the microwave. (5) 2 cups is a lot of drink! It works well with less sweet hot coco (or fewer marshmallows) otherwise it's a sugar overload ... but I'm figuring out the right quantities. I imagine this feels worse than the typical store-bought 16 oz drink because I think we drink it faster without a lid to keep it warm. They are simply an enjoyable experience!

Very suitable size for a soup mug, the handle is wide enough for four fingers holding the mug. I like them very much.

Where have these been all my life? I have been using bowls for personal servings of soups and cereal that came with my dinnerware set. As you may know, most of these types of bowls are flat with very sloping sides that widen out and aren't suitable for things like cereal or any type of liquids. These white pretty bowls are the perfect size and have nice deep sides so nothing will spill over the edges. They have big sturdy handles so they are easy to take in and out of the microwave without spills or burns. If you just like to have a really big cup of coffee or latte these will be perfect for that also. I gave my mom a set of these and she loves them. I also plan to get another set to have on hand as a last minute hostess gift. I've gotten compliments on these and have been asked where I got them. Form follows function in good design and these are not only practical and sturdy, being microwave and dishwasher safe, but are pretty. You will enjoy these and find many uses for them.
