Great Option for Fashion Color or Punching up More Traditional Colors
I’ve been a fan of semi-perm brands, with Arctic Fox being a favorite, for a while now. I love the ease of use, lasting results, great smell, lack of damage and the ability to customize colors through blending and diluting. I’ve had purple, silver, pink, blue, and teals in my hair over time. However; I want to share about my current use as it isn’t the “apply to pale blonde hair” experience most need.If you can’t tell from the above… I was very blonde for a while. My hair is naturally soft black. So a lot of bleaching happened. Ever since, the parts that were blonde have been unable to hold permanent color well. I’d been maintaining this very blah medium blonde to combat this. When I couldn’t take anymore, I applied a Wella permenant dye.To no surprise, my regrowing looked beautiful and my mid lengths to ends were various shades of muddied and watered down color. Hair masks (love Four Reasons) were helping to even things out but they didn’t last past a shampoo or two.I knew the staining factor of arctic fox would last but didn’t want bright fashion colors. Thanks to the internet I found that mixing Sunset Orange with a dash of a dark purple will make a more neutral copper. It’s easy to make your mix in a bowl and play with it to your preferences by adding little bits of purple at a time.I applied my mix for an hour on damp hair. Again, I started fairly red on the top half, medium muddy blonde on the bottom half. The results are a punched up copper that still isn’t “too” much. My color has held from roots to ends and has a fun highlighted effect that is still very cohesive caused by the varying damage in my hair.Long story short- don’t discount this brand just because you want more natural looking color. Save yourself the damage and see if Google has an arctic fox mixture instead.

Really great for freshening up orange and vivid copper dies in between bleaching
This is great for freshening up a more expensive permanent dye job like the nobleach London Vivid copper, and it doesn't fry your hair as well as conditions it If he use it to liven up dulling dyes which is how I use it until I do my seasonal bleach and dye with the vivid copper. This gets very close and you can even mix some into your conditioner and it works pretty well. Much like the nobleach London It's a little overpriced but it does color match that die pretty well and is perfect to refresh the color in between treatments of the harsher bleaching effects of other dyes that lighten your hair. After I bleach dye my hair I got a bottle of this for the couple months in between my next one.

So pretty! Hair is soft! Smells good!
The perfect amount of pink in this orange! It's like a blood orange color. It made my hair feel so soft after washing. I used salon professional color for my last dye job and it left my hair feeling crunchy and dry. Arctic fox actually left my hair feeling conditioned and soft. I like the way it smells too, almost has a grape scent? I used the 4oz bottle for my ends and front pieces. It colors my dark brown hair very well and then you can see the left over balayage I have takes the bright orange really well on the ends. Updated review, I now color my whole head and a single 8oz bottle mixed in with a packet of conditioner thins it out plenty to cover my entire head. My hair is super thick and goes down to my waist. It's definitely more red than orange , but it fades to such a pretty strawberry ginger.

Good product
Really great color! If you are a brunette & want a bit of brightness to your hair this will do it. Puts a pretty hint of ref in your hair but what's best is that it will condition your hair. Removes snarls & frizziness.

Great vegan brand but not for my hair :(
First, let me say that I am no amateur when it comes to dying my own hair. I’ve been cutting and coloring my own hair for over 15 years as well as my fiancé’s, my sister’s, and many friends’ and family. Though I did not go to school for it, I am a self-taught ‘natural’. I say this to ensure those who read this that this is an honest and informed review. So on to that:We are not yet living in a world where bright colored hair dye is fully permanent (that is why they are labeled semi-permanent) but there is no doubt that some semi-perms penetrate better than others. I do support and respect this brand’s care for animals, vegan ingredients, and color options. But I was disappointed with its performance. I used this after bleaching my hair and testing my hair’s porosity which should have given me a pretty good ‘stick’. But, during the first rinse after dying, I could not get anything close to even a semi-clear rinse. The color continually rinsed out until I decided to just stop for fear that I would rinse away all of the color right then and there. The fade after each wash that followed was very dramatic, so much so that after the second wash, I received many comments regarding whether I had decided to lighten my hair. Sometimes hair dyes will rinse easily when you endeavor into the world of bright colors and it isn’t always the fault of the brand being used. Instead, the cause can be due to hair condition, water with high mineral content (“hard water”), the hair products being used esp. shampoos and conditioners and countless other contributors. So I can forgive this to an extent. My biggest issue with this brand is that it left my hair in a constant state of, I don’t know how else to describe it, “grunge”. It was as if my hair was always dirty and I just couldn’t get it clean. I have never experienced this with semi-permanent color so I was very perplexed for the first few days until I realized the culprit. I try not to wash my hair more than twice a week as it is unhealthy to strip away needed oils especially when you color your hair often (everyone has different hair needs and mine does not react well to over-washing). With this dye, I felt the need to constantly use dry shampoo and to wash it more often due to the oily and grimy feel it gave my hair. Washing it more often led to the dye fading to a yellow in just 2 weeks. I say more often but I never washed it more than 4 times a week in those 2 weeks and used appropriate shampoo and conditioner. I did try this brand again with a different color after treating my hair hoping it was just my hair condition causing the trouble on my first try but with the second go, it did not improve. My advice: This is an excellent brand that stands for animal rights and promotes vegan products so I have the utmost respect for Arctic Fox and hope for their continued success which is the reason for the 4 stars. I suggest giving it a try, I think it’s worth the expense to see if Artic Fox and your hair get along. I hope it works out, but if you experience something similar to what I did, at least you’ll know that you might need to move on to a different brand. Good luck!

The color turn out is always so gorgeous!
I have many colors of artic fox. The sunset orange I bought here was a little too red but still did the job for me daughter's sunset effect but I've bought purple AF and aquamarine for my inlet daughter and now I'm using them myself. The green is from manic panic Venus envy because artic fox phantom green didn't do the job for me... but currently I have purple AF, aquamarine, manic panic Venus green and it's hard to tell but in my hair I put I teeny but if virgin pink but it mixed with the aquamarine to give this pink dominate purple hue which is exactly what I was going for so I added an extra layer color depth to my hair. I'm good about helping my kids achieve unique qualities. I'm second child loved doing the 4 different shades in her color scheme. Usually blue, dark blue, purple, and she's went from red to green. OMG! The turn it in her hair. My youngest daughter had a rainbow in her hair now it's a sunset. These colors are amazing! To say the least...I decided I liked the green even though it's not my top 3 but blue and purple are. I don't like pink but I was going for a galaxy plan. I thought a teeny weeny pink would work. It mixed with the blue on top but it still is a nice shade of purple that ads more depth to the hair color. I'm happy with the torn out every time for all 3 of us. It lasts a good while in our hair too. So long as we use the cold water method lol.

literally my all-time favorite dye
i’ve been dyeing my own hair with arctic fox for like 9 years now and it holds up as my favorite dye ever. i used lime crime’s 20-vol bleach kit to lighten my hair to a very light blonde and then applied the sunset orange dye!i always let mine sit for 2-3 hours because (1) it deep conditions which is GREAT after bleaching and (2) i do not use any heat to help the color set once the dye is applied. rinsed in lukewarm water very well and then used a teeny bit of color-friendly shampoo to get any last major remnants out.as you can see, it turned out more like a scarlet color - a very reddish orange. i personally LOVED the color! and it does eventually fade to a nice true orange. this picture is about 3 months old by now! it’s currently still a pretty vibrant orange, which is crazy because i use a CLARIFYING shampoo once a week!arctic fox dye holds up through my hair’s toughest battles. it does stain pillowcases, towels, and light-colored clothing, so be careful! it also stains the shower but it’s VERY easy to clean off of those surfaces - just use a foaming tile/bath cleaner and it’ll be like you were never there!

As a European living in Japan, I am very happy to find something like this.
The hair seemed to get better after use. But on my dark brown hair, the color turned out to be more red.

Excelente producto
El producto está muy buenl, huele súper rico y el color es muy intenso, hay que tener en cuenta que no deja de ser de fantasía por lo que dura menos que un tinte normal, pero muy recomendado.

Great stuff!
I've used Manic Panic in the past, gotta say- Arctic Fox runs circles around Manic Panic.Accessibility: 'Round these parts, we've got Sally Beauty and Shoppers Drug Mart. I've only ever been able to find a handful of MP colors in-store. AF is readily available in most shades in either size right here online. 👍Price: The LARGE bottle of AF is about the same size as the small jar of MP. More color concentration in the Arctic Fox, so it also goes alot further than Manic Panic.Ease of use- AF comes in a squeezey bottle, MP comes in a jar (I know they sell bottles, I was never able to find them.) Personally, I like the "squeeze into my hand from the bottle and smoosh it onto my head" method.Longevity- AF: Minimal fade after 10 shampoos, MP: 40% color/vibrancy lost with one shampoo. =(So I've used 5 colors so far:Sunset Orange: MUCH redder than the swatches would have you believe, even on light blonde to start. It looked like a nice, natural auburn, but undiluted it wasn't 'orange'. Washed out kinda fast. (To be expected with reds) Easy to remove with a few Vitamin C Treatments.Cosmic Sunshine: BART SIMPSON YELLOW! Even on level 7 blonde! lol (used this to loosen up the Sunset Orange, and roots/regrowth were yellow!!)Virgin Pink: 80s fuchsia!!!! Good color, minimal fading after a few shampoos. Lifted right out with a quick bleach bath.Aquamarine: The only one I didn't like so far. MUCH DARKER and greener than the swatches/models show. Didn't like this one bit. After every wash it got a little greener, and a little greener (2 washed in 5 days). Since I only color the bottom half of my hair, this wept into my uncolored section on top. None of the other colors bled like this. Removed it after 5 days, took 4 days to remove. Stained green, Vitamin C nor dawn/baking soda loosened this up. Bleach bathed to a light seafoam green and colored over it.Violet Dream: I was torn between this one and Purple Rain. PR seemed to be on the bluer side, so I went with this one because it kinda reminded me of the Virgin Pink and that one worked out ok. (And I was covering the leftover green, figured blue was the WRONG choice). This is my new favourite color. Definitely not pink, but not reeeallly purple, somewhere in between. VERY vibrant! It changes color in the light. I thought Virgin Pink was vibrant, this one is soooo bright. It easily covered over the leftover green. **whew**I love this product, I'm sure I'll have gone thru the rest of the rainbow by the end of the year! lol
