The minimum safe shooting distance is 3 yards or 9ft. This is a handgun range but it will handle .22 rifle, min safe distance with rifle is 10 yards.BB guns are just fine of course, keep in mind that the orange target board is 1/2 inch thick OSB so make sure BB velocity is high enough to penetrate the board and not ricochet back. This is the Bullet Catch with the Basic strike-plate. They are essentially the same except that the G2 has additional "ribs" at the top and bottom of the plate to help slow deformation, which adds to plate life. Especially when shooting hotter rounds on a regular basis.Both are excellent strike-plates.
