Do these have the flashing option or do they just stay on one setting?

They have 8 different types of setting. Easy to change from one to another.

Do these have a automatic setting so they light up once it gets dark?

Hello, our solar string lights can be charged during the day and automatically turn on at dusk and turn off at dawn. Please make sure that the light is turned on to the "ON" state, it will not change your previous settings when it automatically turns on the next day, hope it will help you, thanks.

do these need direct sunlight or will they light up during winter with regular daylight?

Hello, our solar garden lights only need to be fully charged in sufficient sunlight to use, you need to face the solar panel directly to the sun, charge it in the sun for 6-8 hours, and then it can work for 8-14 hours at night. Make sure to turn on the light to "ON" state before use, and tear off the plastic film on the solar panel, it can provide the conversion rate, hope it will help you, thank you.
