acme Victorian Cast Aluminum Pedestal Mailbox System Color: Bronze

Originally went looking for antique cast iron mailboxes for our 1840s home with no luck. Found this reproduction, which had an anti-corrosion coating, and all the required hardware. The finish is great in antique bronze, everything is sturdy, and no sign of rust after being in torrential downpour for the past few months. Assembly and installation was easy, with one caveat. You will need to build a box frame with some 1" x 3"s and pour a small concrete base, using the supplied bolt sleeves. Also need to dig out an area and fill with crushed gravel, compact, and then install the concrete slab. Fun family project with the kids, took me an afternoon. Happy with the purchase!

Great investment. It was easy to assemble and looks elegant. I would purchase it all over again.

This is such a lovely mailbox! It's sturdy, locks, the finish is pretty, and overall looks great and adds class to the front of our home. The shipping was quick and the assembly very easy. We've had many compliments already! Thanks for the great service!

BASE ALIGNMENT TO THE MAIL BOX IS NOT ALIGNED......... HOLES INCORRECT MOUNTING POINTS WRONG...THE MAIL FLAP DOOR IS SPELLED >..... LETTRES... IT SHOULD BE SPELLED LETTERS............... ITS REAL JUNK

This mailbox is pretty in the picture, but it's not quite what I expected. For starters, the directions are as clear as mud. And there were no direction on how to install into the ground/concrete. We ended up finding another similar product online and got ground suggestions there. I also thought the finished product was a bit low, we're thinking about adding another slab of concrete to make it a little higher. The other thing I guess I didn't pay close enough attention to is the mail slot. We live in a rural area and our previous box was a typical rural mail box that had a door that opened fully for large packages and/or a hand full of mail. This box has a small mail slot that our mailperson can only put 3-4 letters in the box at a time and if there is a large package to deliver and we're not home. Then the mailperson has to leave a pick-up slip...very inconvenient for both all of us. Overall it's not a bad product, just not quite what I expected.

Item is lovely and as advertised, unfortunately,the keys were missing, which created some problems since we are in Canada and have to drive across the border to pick up items shipped in the US.

Like the look, feels sturdy enough but.....Big Box, little opening, no room for packages, even small boxes! came home and found that mailperson rubber banded a small box to the top of box cause it would not fit in the little opening. Door to open on back is locked so they couldnt even reach around. If you get a lot of small packages i would not recommend this model!
