Not bad!
Ok, so my hair had some highlights I made in a salon. For this reason, I didnโt bleach my hair with the bleach that comes in the box, I decided to use the dye, alone, cause I didnโt want to damage my hair. My highlights: some of them were pretty blonde, but it was mostly light brown. Where it was light brown, the blue got so dark that looks like black (I believe itโs gonna go lighter after a few washes) and where the highlights were pretty blonde, you can see the dark blue we see on the box picture. I, personally, didnโt think it was a bad result. In fact, I loved this visual effect of black and blue hair. But, if you want the lighter blue, I would definitely recommend bleach your hair first. Oh, and yes! This product stain everything, Iโm glad I read some reviews first. I was able to cover everything. Except for my bath xD Be careful.

Awesome product! Easy to use and stays in if you follow the directions
We bought this for my daughter, her hair is THICK THICK THICK and very dark brown with a weird texture (We are Sicilian) We used the bleach according to direction and WOW talk about a shocking difference! Her hair was BLONDE/white in every place we used the bleach. The blue dye went on easy and was a brilliant color. We only did her bangs, so we were able to save the rest of the bottle for later applications to brighten them up. With any drastic color, they fade quickly..even when you pay $100 in a salon so it was nice to have that extra color for a touch up application after the first few weeks. DO NOT get the dye on your skin..It will color your skin..But If you do, which we did..I know this sounds strange, but it works...make a paste with cigarette ashes or fireplace ashes and a drop of water..rub onto dyed skin area..stinky but it does get the dye off. We originally dyed her hair in April, here it is July and Yes it is faded, but her bangs are still blue! We are buying more Splat! Totally recommend this product! Have fun with it but follow the directions!!

You're turning VIOLET, Violet!
This isn't the first time that I've purchased this kit. The other kit I bought was at my local drug store. The first time that I used it, it was on my son's hair. The lightening bleach worked well on him. He had "virgin" hair at the time and it turned his hair the lightest I've seen it from black. We did have to bleach it again to get it as light as he wanted it, though. We got red for him. It took really well and looked awesome when we were done. Everyone called him "Rufio" from the the movie "Hook". We had no problems with this kit. On to the Blue Envy and my hair.... My hair is a lot longer than his, so it took more work and more product. I had to get my hubby to help since I wanted to do my under growth (nape of neck). I used all of the bleach for my under growth and part of the frame of my face. Since part of my hair was already bleached a few months back, those areas got super white. I wish I could get it white like that all the time without having to bleach it so many times. The areas that were naturally black (the out growth), only turned a dark brown as if I went to the beach and the ocean and sun bleached it. Oh well, it ended up being kind of ombre'd from black to dark brown to blue. That part was framing my face and you really can't tell. I washed the bleach out and left it like that for a couple of days since I got busy with other things. I finally had time to use the hair color. Again, I needed my hubby's help. First off, getting the powder into the bottle is a chore! Use a paper to make a funnel to make it a lot easier for yourself. Read the directions and let the mixture set for a minute. It seems to expand a bit and the mixture turns more to a cream consistency. COVER EVERYTHING!!! Hands, ears, neck, shoulders, chair, floor....use a long sleeve shirt if you can. Even my hubby needed a long sleeve shirt. Use old towels or dark towels if you're using a dark dye. RUBBING ALCOHOL will help if you still get some dye on you. THIS STUFF STAINS EVERYTHING!!! and I mean EVERYTHING! Even my dog brushed up against a towel and turned blue. We bought good gloves in a large quantity and used those...BUT the edge of my hubby's very shorts nails still caught on the glove a couple of times in the past and tore it. He now uses two pairs while he dyes my hair. Good thing he did. He would have looked like he robbed a bank! Any little drops will stain. Go outside or cover the floor with a dollar store table "cloth". My hubby used a brush (for applying bleach or color) to apply the color and it splattered tiny dots all over himself, the ground and me. It doesn't matter how careful you are, it's going to get some place you didn't want it. Be sure not to step in it and then walk all over the place - in the house! Since the red that my son used didn't seem to get all over the place in the shower, I figured I'd be fine. I hopped into the shower and arched my back so my hair wasn't touching me. NOPE! Didn't work with this dye. Every other dye I've used, didn't stain my skin like this one did. It didn't matter how much I rinsed my hair out, the water was still pretty dark. I'm glad I had gloves on during that part. Normally, after I do my initial rinse I can take my gloves off and be stain free. But this time.... o.O My hands were blue after shampooing. I also had blue on my ears, cheeks, neck, shoulders, back, arms, my feet, even my nail polish on my toes. I rinsed longer than normal and then applied a conditioner. That that soak in a while longer than normal since I bleached it. Then rinsed again. Still, the water ran blue. By now the other dyes would have ran a tinted blue but still clear. I would suggest rinsing and washing in a sink and then putting your hair up to jump into the shower. I used an old, dark colored floor towel to wrap my hair. I toweled dry and then used a blow dryer so that my wet hair didn't stain my bed. It was so late by now, that my hubby went to bed and I had to ask my daughter to help me. I have a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol in it. She spritzed my back, shoulders and neck and then used cotton pads to wipe off all the blue. I lifted my feet to the sink and sprayed my heels and toes. Lastly, I sprayed and washed my hands. Thankfully, rubbing alcohol does the trick!! A spray bottle makes it handy!! I had an event the next day and I wouldn't want to go out of the house looking like Violet from Willy Wonka!!! The event that we attended was outdoors. It was 97 degrees and we were sweating. I had to put my hair up because if there was any moisture in my hair and it laid on my skin, it would stain. My hubby nearly gave me a friction burn trying to get a line of blue dye off of my neck where a couple of strands of hair wouldn't stay up. I wash my hair every other day and I dread it. I also dread having to blow dry my hair when I do wash it, but I know that if I don't, my damp hair will stain me and my bed. I'm wondering if it'll be like this for the life span of this color or if the transfer will stop. While I love the color it left in my hair, it's way too messy for my taste. The price is nice, but I think I'll probably go back to another dye that I know won't stain everything, including my pillow for weeks to come.

Best hair dye I have used
Splat is a good brand. It is semi-permanent dye. Incredible blue when first applied, but it does start fading within a few days. After 3 weeks it is faded purple, which I still like. I suggest bleaching your hair twice (for dark hair). Apply dye, leave dye in until it is dry, wash out. Do not shampoo your hair again as this makes it fade much more quickly. I have a mohawk, so there is not a lot of hair to dye. I apply what I need, then wrap the bottle tip in masking tape. This prevents it from drying out and it will alst forever.

good product
im new to dying my hair (i have grown it out since my profile pic) and i wanted to do something new but not too drastic but i didnt have alot of money so i got this, it comes with 4 plastic gloves, instructions, bleach, dye. all that you need. so by following the instructions i succesfully dyed parts of my hair, there is enough ingredients to dye really long hair with this product, though at first i was scetchy cause of the low price but it worked great though yes a little messy when you wash your hair after you dye it but i found just hot water and a rag to work just fine in the tub. umm all i can say is its a great product i love my new look and will probably purchase it again when my hair color fades.

Love Splat!
I've been using funky semi permanent dyes since I was in Jr. High, about 24 years now. I've used many, many brands over the years. SPLAT is definitely one of the best ones I've ever used, a lot of the other brands just don't stick for me. I can't even recall off the top of my head another brand that comes with the bleach, so Splat is definitely the best value for funky colors I've ever seen. New to semi permanent dye? It does tend to get everywhere. For easy cleanup I like to use Clorox toilet cleaner with bleach. It's got a nice consistency and it's a favorite of mine if I accidentally get a splash on the wall or to clean the shower. I also really like Lysol's multipurpose cleaner with peroxide. Your hair will transfer color when it's wet for pretty much the life of your dye job. A good conditioner helps seal the color as well as a shine serum. My hair will leak color all over until I towel dry it then apply my serum. It's not a problem, a small price for awesome hair.

I love Blue!! but..............
I hate to give this anything less than 5 stars simply because I am pro crazy hair colors and I love Blue so much. This is my first time however doing my own hair with such a bold and unique color and I intend on trying again and again til I achieve my beautiful blue. This however did not hold on my hair. I spots and my roots are brighter then ever with Blue. then the rest of my hair comes out looking gray which is not bad at all but the way its all looking on my hair looks messy and definitely looks like I ha dno idea what I was doing. I wet my hair this morning 2 days after I dyed it and blue just started drizzling down my face. If it was red I'd be a little freaked out. I wash my hair thoroughly so that may be the problem why it didnt stick. Also i put too much on my roots and had barely any left for the rest of my hair. But I conditioned it through. My front roots are all confused. They are either blonde, white or blue and I dont know how in the world they are not all blue since I wasted most of the dye on the front part. This brand is great with the colors and you need bleach blonde hair though to get the results and more then one box. I don't want pastel blue I want rich rich royal beautiful blue. So I will by 3 boxes in case. I will try again. Not sure of this brand but since its now available in my local store I might try it out again. Try it you may be able to do better then I did. I love the beautiful blue though that comes out when it holds right.

endlich!!

If you want blue hair, this is it.
Intense royal blue colour, long lasting, not wishy washy like some other brands. If you want royal blue hair - this is it. I started with dark brown hair and bleached it twice on the same day after a generous amount of gin (if you're very quiet, you can hear Brad Mondo weeping softly right now) using a different brand bleach. Ended up with light orange hair, so I was a little concerned the blue wouldn't take. My fears were unfounded, as this covered everything in the advertised shade of blue. A word of caution: not for the faint of heart. If you put this on your head, you're in it for the long haul so be certain you want your hair blue. It's five weeks later and it's only now lightened a little at my roots for me to think about another application. Also, stains like an absolute nightmare, so take all precautions beforehand. Stained my bathtub slightly so had to clean afterwards. Even stained my hands blue during subsequent showers so you might want to consider investing in a box of disposable gloves to apply shampoo and conditioner for showering/bathing afterwards. Also had a tendancy to run in the rain for about two weeks after application. Just something to bear in mind. All in all, I got exactly what I asked for, a royal blue that lasted. Will buy again.

Dyes EVERYTHING very well
It definitely turned out a very gorgeous blue. Exactly what my kiddo wanted. However ear covers and vaseline are a MUST and my bath tub is now tinged blue even after scrubbing it with bleach. So beware... it will stain all that it touches. (Also my kid has pretty short hair and we JUST had enough bleach... like I was scraping every bit out that I could to finish the last section.)
