It’s perfect
This is exactly what I was looking for. The damper on my fireplace never closed, so I thought I would have to get a new firebox until I went down a rabbit hole of google searching to find something less expensive.I read some of the previous reviews about it being pricey, and although it is in the higher end, this is a lot less expensive than the alternative so money well spent if you ask me.The 10” fit my 8” opening like a dream. Thanks so much for coming up with something so simple and effective.

Does what it says stops all drafts
Using it to stop a cold draft in our main living room. I have a nest temperature sensor in this room and it is always cooler then the rest of the first floor. I installed it 24 hours ago and this room is the same temperature as the rest of the first floor. I would say it works and easy to use.

Stops drafts as advertised, but...
I'll start with the good. It fit properly, the magnets are strong enough to hold it in place, but not so strong it takes a ton of effort to remove it. The chain and installation indicator are a good reminder to remove it before starting a fire. Did it stop the drafts, absolutely, and I anticipate a < 2-year return on investment living in Wisconsin. The room no longer has a noticeable cold spot when the fireplace is not in use. There is room for improvement which is the reason for this being a 4-star review. It's made out of aluminum except for the handle and aluminum is an excellent thermal conductor, some sort of insulation would be an improvement. I had to use an angle grinder to cut a 2" slot in it to accommodate the rod connected to the flue, then I added some weather stripping to the slot so it sealed up to the flue rod. I'm quite happy and consider it a good purchase, it solved the problem. It's a bit pricey for what it is by the time you include the rather high shipping charge, but I was unable to find a true comparable.

Simple and easy solution temporarily sealing a draughty chimney
The flue cover on my 1990's era chimney didn't sit quite flush and in the winter it was like having a window open. This cover uses magnets to adhere to the flue and it creates an air tight seal. Much easier than dealing with chimney balloons or other things you have to shove up your flue and its substantial cheaper than buying a whole new fireplace.

Value added
Magnets are strong and the seal is great. I have 2 fireplaces in the country and the wind really howls down the flues. This not only will prevent the flies, stink bugs, etc but also stop the loud howling and prevent the drafts.

Exactly as advertised.
This flue cover is very sturdy. It keeps the flue from sending cold air into my living room. A very valuable purchase. Kudos to the manufacturer.

Effective & easy to use. Worth the money.
Easy to install. Stops unwanted drafts. Red washer at bottom of chain is easy to see when it is installed.

If your flu is "good" stainless steel, like many are, magnets don't stick because there is no iron left in the steel!
I didn't think this purchase through very well, I was so intent on blocking the air flow coming down the chimney that I overlooked that the flu might be stainless... it is and this doesn't work here. I am keeping it as we move a lot and our next chimney might not be stainless and it looks as though it would work well.
