Superb and Splendid
This book is lushly put together by Princess Maria Gabriella the oldest daughter of the last King and Queen of Italy and by far the most knowledgeable and serious of the 4. She was a devoted daughter to both parents and learned many details of the gems and history of the dynasty. Her explanations are very detailed and the photographs are unbelievable. Too bad that because of circumstances so many of these works of the jewelers' art have been sold. We can only hope that they are not broken up as so many historical pieces have in the past. The section of the jewels that were left in the Bank of Rome when the royal family left are incredible. Too bad that they are not placed on display so that they can be enjoyed like the other royal jewels around the world.I bought this book in Rome (in original Italian) and strongly recommend it to all lovers of the jeweler's art as well as those interested in the Savoys.

A gorgeous book on royal jewels
The House of Savoy had three Italian Queens and Queen Margherita, like Queen Mary of England was a jewellery lover. She bought diamonds and other jewels like pearls to enhance her royal presence and they often pay off in rather stunning jewel draped images of her. The book follows the lives and jewels of Queen Elena and Queen Marie Jose as well as Margherita. Their jewels are shown in lovely clear photos where they survive and enhanced with many rare, large size, photos of them being worn by the various Queens. This is one of the best books of royal jewels out there to concentrate on a specific family. If you love jewels or are interested in royal families this book is hard to pass up.

Royal diamonds on my coffee table
Beautifully researched and written, with lovely photographs, the book is an excursus on the jewellery of the Savoia family, interlaced with their history. A must for anyone interested in historical jewels, costume, and the applied arts, and an excellent addition to my small library of books on jewellery. I put it on my coffee table during the Christmas holidays and it wowed every single female (and even an erudite male or two) who happened to enter my sitting-room. Recommended.

Bellissimo
