"This chainmail arm armor by Get Dressed for Battle is particularly suitable for impersonations of armored combatants of the Late Middle Ages. A chainmail arm armor of this type (also called ""Voider"") should protect the armpits that were exposed under a plate armor when the combatant was in motion. With the use of chainmail arm armor an alternative was created in the Late Middle Ages to have to wear a complete chainmail shirt under plate armor. This enabled the combatant to save enormous amounts of weight. The chainmail arm armor is half riveted with wedge rivets and is therefore particularly resistant and robust."
