TLDNR, Amazing receiver, you will not be disappointedLook, I don't impress easily but this receiver really did the trick.I've been wanting a way to teach my son to fly without having to be on a buddy box the whole time. He does great with some bank limits but I want him to be able to fly models that didn't come with SAFE receivers pre-installed. I've tried the Orange, Lemon and Admiral receivers that claim to provide these capabilities, with mixed often catastrophic results. This receiver, on the other hand, doe exactly what I expect and installation is SO SIMPLE. Install the receiver like you would in any model (with the exception that the servo leads must be oriented to either the front or back). For best results do complete a quick flight to trim the controls. Then run through a short wizard to configure AS3X and SAFE, all through your radio! It's that easy! In fact my last order (that's right I liked my first one enough that I ordered two more the next day) arrived as I was hopping in the car to head to the modelport. When I arrived I was able to install and program the radio in less time than it took my friend to get the wings on his plane.You're not just limited to simple SAFE yes or no either, you can program multiple flight modes, fine tune your angle limits (per direction if you so choose) set up panic and even set an option to turn off all gyro functions if you so choose. I just wish they came in an 8 channel option to kit out my B-17 and not lose the bomb bays.(Update: I have now bought 5 of these receivers, I like them that much.)

I'm not that well of a programmer when it comes to R/C plane receivers. I've dabbled with it a bit on some older AR636's with the program cord hooked to a computer. I purchased a Arrows F15 Eagle from Hobby Zone and decided to go with this receiver since I already had a DX8 Gen II radio with forward programming capabilities. I followed the instructions and watched a couple YT videos on this and installed into my fairly expensive plane (to me anyways) and did several tests with the set up in my shop. After getting everything dialed in as I thought needed to be I headed to the club for a maiden. O M G....I couldn't believe how well the plane flew and everything this receiver had to offer as far as range, adjustability and the general ease of use it provides. I can highly recommend this for anyone looking to do the forward programming by yourself. Very happy with the purchase.

Like other reviewers, I keep buying this. It's just that good. Every plane I own eventually gets one of these. I have a Twin Otter, Turbo Timber, and Maule M7 - each one has this receiver set up and calibrated for that particular plane. Setup is simple and takes a few minutes at most.This receiver comes with a voltage sensor that you connect to the volt port, then use each lead to connect directly to either the battery's balance port or splice them into the wiring for the ESC battery leads. This allows you to set up the Volts menu in your Telemetry options. Set it to the correct LiPo pack you're most commonly using and you'll get integrated flight pack telemetry without needing to use a LiPo checker attached in-flight. You can even set it up to warn you once voltage sags below a user-defined limit.This thing is awesome.

I like this thing. Having AS3X built into a telemetry receiver gives me just what I was looking for. This is one of the first RXs that uses the Spektrum "forward programming", which makes it really easy to set up and tweak at the field without a laptop. I have a Dx9 and it worked pretty seamlessly. I did watch the extensive youtube video series that Horizon put out on this receiver which covered everything on setup and tuning. Highly recommend that!For flight characteristics, I am very happy. It really smooths out the flight envelope, especially on windy days, and helps filter out a lot of wing rock during harriers.

The receiver works great. The self-leveling option is a life saver for the my RC P47D Thunderbolt. Sometimes during dusk, it is easy to get disorientated. But the SAFE function bails me out every time. It the perfect upgrade from the AR636A.

Received the unit perfectly packaged. Could easily be updated with latest Spektrum firmware, and is now build into my Carbon-Z Cub.
